View Full Version : do you tell someone some bad news before they go on vacation?

a friend of ours passed away (not close close, but decently close), and my friend is leaving on vacation to ireland in a couple hours. what do I do?

she's calling me back in an hour.

do I tell her the bad news? and kinda spoil her vacation?
do I hold it and tell her when she comes back?

Tell her. I can't really say why, but thats the way I would want it if I was your friend.

I guess I don't know your friend or how she takes news like this, but if I were your friend, I'd want you to tell me before the vacation.

Yes, I would be sad, but it wouldn't ruin my vacation.

If they are just "casual friends" it might dampen her flight, but that's about it. I highly doubt she is going to mull over this for her entire trip to a different country.

Your going to have to weigh the reproductions of not telling her before she goes and letting her know later to telling her now. Everyone will react differently because of there particular feelings towards the person, my personal opinion is to tell her now.

Most definatetly tell her.
If something like that was kept from me, I'd be more upset.
