Aside from the Dazzle line, any thoughts on a good analog video capture device. While my current video camera is mini-dv, I still have my old Canon 8mm camcorder and a bunch of tapes I'd like to burn to DVD.

Dazzle sucks.

really, you'd want a video card with a video in port, and a sound card with a line in/mic in. ATI all in wonders, or ti4200s like the Asus V9820s work very well for that sort of thing.

I own two All-in-Wonders, and while I was quite pleased with the video performance of my Rage128 AIW, I find my Radeon AIW to be...sucky.

I will never buy another AIW. I would:

Get a PCI stand-alone capture card

or

copy the 8mm tapes to miniDV with your camcorders and then edit with the miniDV (the way God intended)

Try http://www.half.com for ATI All-In-Wonder cards. But make sure that you find one with the proper cables. ATI uses proprietary connectors which are quite expensive.

i've got a visiontek extasy everything. i've only used it with mini-dv. but i've got some old tapes too. if i get around to trying it with those, i'll post my results.

i've only had it installed for about a month, but it seems to be a decent card.

For a better line look at products offered by pinnacle systems, canopus, and matrox.
