I have a 2 wd 120 gig hd's....
but one of them is 2meg buffer and the other is 8 meg....
can I still do raid?

Sure you can but I would guess it would not be advisable. The 2mb buffer will slow down the performance of the 8mb buffer drive. Will it slow it down to the point where you would be better off with just the one drive? My guess would be yes, but that would just be a guess.

From what I know about RAID 0 arrays, the array will be very fast, a bit faster than just the SE drive. Since the reads and writes are linked, it'll prolly be about 60% faster than the slower drive. I've heard that some controllers will take advantage of faster drives, and not slow down the faster drives to the slowest drive in the array...but I wouldn't count on this to be stable.
My 40x2 RAID 0 array is about 40% faster than the speed of each drive (identical drives).
