Santa brought Josh a package of 150 glow-in-the-dark stars to put on the ceiling in his bedroom.
So while he is still down in Oklahoma (til Saturday), Scott & I are going to put the stars up in his room. Yay! :heh:
So my question is... How should we do it? Should we attempt to make any designs or just kind of put them up?
There are:
42 tiny ones
52 small ones
40 medium ones
5 large ones (about 3" in diameter)
Please give me some ideas! :D

that's not crazy i think it's totally cool
just smack em up on the ceiling, because it will look like a real sky, whereas if you do a design it looks totally "fake"

Randomly with a higher density stream. A "Milky way" if you will.

That's cool! I would do some larger things like the big dipper and orion and the tea kettle then random the rest around those. That way he can recognize them and look for them in the sky too :D

We can't hang them right now, cause we are only going to be here for another 5 months or so. After we move, we may do that. :D

Another idea would be to pick a few constellations, this would probably be more sensible placing it on a wall. Good luck.*** EDIT- I just Noticed Chrissy had suggested it, sorry if I'm repeating, I think there good ideas.

That's cool. We did that several years ago in our boy's bedroom. Don't forget to turn the light on an hour before bedtime to get them "charged up"!

go and buy one of those small planetarium projectors. project view of sky onto the ceiling/wall. cover projected stars with sticker stars. return planetarium projector.

Better yet, stick 'em on your body all over the place and go streaking through the planetarium after the lights go down.
Now maybe THAT would be a little crazy...

Yeah you can. Go to Wally World and buy you some fun tack, you know the gummy stuff you use to hang things with, and use that to hang them up with. That way you can still take them down and use them when you get to your new home.

Then quote what you are talking about next time :P
start a website where you sell people the rights to name one of the stars and give them a chart of the kid's room so they can pick one. then send them a certificate that a star has been charted and named, and register it in a book of stars that have also already been named officially as well as sold to other people wanting to name stars.

Hmmm, this sounds hauntingly familiar! ;)

since you are going to be moving and dont want to actually stick them on the ceiling-just put some duct tape on them and stick them up that way

put them in the shape of a pentagram.

We decided to wait until Josh gets home tomorrow so he can help decide where he wants them. :)
We're going to use the tacky tack stuff (poster tacky or whatever) that came with the stars. I've used it on the walls before and it comes off fine. We just don't want to put a bunch of holes or anything more sturdy in the ceiling.

Use some of the cheap tacky stuff so that every once in a while a star falls off. Then he can try to catch them. That will provide him with hours and hours of concentration practice. Prevent ADD before it hits.

Make sure you put the big ones on a ceiling fan. Turn that puppy on at night and watch the spiral.
Highly affected in altered state of mind!

I'm telling you, go streaking through the planetarium. Or even one of those Floyd/Zeppelin laser shows. It so much a better idea.

well, we think so. He's had it for awhile now, off and on. Had it first several weekends ago, then this past Thursday, then once Saturday morning, then again once last night. Very odd. We don't know what is going on.

We don't know what is going on. My wife and I are sick with something also, we are not throwing up but we do have heavy coughs. We went to the doctors and they put us both on antibiotics...

I also have the stars on my ceiling I just put them up randomly and they look really good.( Then again I did it about 5 years ago in my pot smoking Pink Floyd days  ).... now I don't even notice they are there.
Good Luck though
