I wasn't sure exactly what forum this would fit in, so I figured off topic would be the best place.
I'm sure most of us have had our fair share (or should I say unfair share) of experiences with Best Buy. Recently I have been checking out LCD monitors and have decided that a 17inch LCD screen would suit my needs the best. I am a college student so my only real opportunities to bring in the money are during breaks working and christmas/birthdays. Well, for christmas, just about every relative of mine decided that I would enjoy a Best Buy gift card. Of course, I absolutely hate Best Buy, and only find them useful for blank cd-s, cd's, and dvd's, all of which I have plenty of. And of course Best Buy wont give you cash back for the card, even if it's never been used, so I am in a dilemma over purchasing an LCD screen.
Turns out BB does have a decent 17 inch monitor (the viewsonic va720), but for a rediculous price ($599!!) with a manufacturers rebate of $100 to come months later in the mail. I have been searching online for a better price...and have found about a dozen different stores offering them that are NOT-refurbs and are at about $479. I also took the time to look up BB's price match plan....
In-Store Price Guarantee — If, within 30 days (14 days for computers, monitors, printers and notebooks, camcorders, digital cameras and radar detectors) of your purchase from Best Buy, you find a local competitor offering a lower price on an available product of the same brand and model, we'll refund the difference plus another 10% of the difference. Bring us verification of the lower price, plus your original Best Buy receipt to claim your refund. Does not apply to BestBuy.com pricing, special, bonus or free offers, and in California cellular phones and pagers. Does not apply to products with special financing offers. For complete price guarantee details, please see a customer service representative. We reserve the right to limit quantities. See store for complete details.
I figure they won't accept these online stores as "local competition" even if you're able to pick up the items at the store's warehouse. Do you think there's any way they would match these prices (since there's so many sources of the price being that low) and just not give me their 100 dollar rebate? I figure I could always just go online and print out the rebate form :P . Might it depend on the particular manager that I argue with, or is there a straight up way to get this price matched? Sorry for the length. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.
