Yeah, I don't do it much. My question is how much do you guys usually tip the delivery person? My total was $10.71 and I gave him $15. He stood there expecting something and we just kinda stared for a while... so here are a couple of possibilities:
1. I reminded him of someone he knew
2. He isn't "all there" mentally
3. My tip is too small :(
So what is it? $4.29 too little for delivery tip? I thought I was being generous.

I think he was so suprised you gave him so much. He was shocked. Or perhaps he didn't know you weren't expecting change.
The tip vaires with the service received.
Normally tip pizza person 10% or total.
...or just tell them to use a rubber which is usually a better tip anyway.:D

I agree...I think he was waiting to see if you wanted change back. I usually tip a couple of bucks, maybe more if it's a large order.

Oh yeah that makes sense... although I did tell him to just keep the whole $15. Hm...
maybe he's one of them that usually sell pot on the side and was like..."you wanna buy or not?"

I had to go to the bathroom while browsing G|A and while I was gone my mom came in. Apparently that picture was on the screen... later she said "Alvin, what did you do?! You're on the internet!!".

Two bucks max.
If I could make a 4 buck tip for every pizza delivery,I would definitely quit wasting my time on other things and deliver pizzas.
I delivered pizzas while going to college and could deliver 8-10 pizzas per hour. At 4 bucks tip per pizza, that would be excellent!!

I tip usaully 2 bucks and round up to the nearest whole dollar. But most of the times instead of giving you change they take the whole thing expecting not to give you change at all.
For example, if it costs 15 I would tip 3. If I hand them 20 they turn their back and make their getaway. Don't even attempt to pull out the ones to make change.
I've gotten worse service.

I'll figure a tip at 12-15% and usually round to the next whole dollar.
For a $10.71 bill I'd give $12 or $13. I'd hand the guy the money and say "keep it all." It also saves the delivery guy going through the act of "okay, let me put down the delivery box and pull out my change wallet..."
If I have a $20, I'll say "just give me seven back" as I am handing it to them. So much for the "getaway attempt." :)

maybe he was calculating how much tip he made.

I usually try and tip 15% across the board, unless as others mentioned they went out of there way to make me happy. what kind of pizza did you get for $10 We have this place across the street they have a 2 large cheese pizza's for $9.99
Generally speaking, I try to have a few dollar bills* hand when I order pizza to save myself the whole change thing. If its going to be $11, I make sure I have $13 exactly so I can just give it to him.
* In Canuckistan, we don't have dollar bills, so I really mean dollar coins.
