I think xsiled2 is making a joke about how Soltek's logo looks like the symbol for the SS... maybe an ode to the Nazis or something.

Then again, maybe he is serious.

it looks like an SS bolt, they probly thought it looked cool or something and reverted it so it didnt exactly match the bolt...

No kidding... That is one of the most over-taught subjects in history.

Bah, I don't think they taught enough of it. I'm really in to WWII stuff. I think it's a real interesting period of history.

:stupid:

I think it's "over-taught" because there is so much to learn from it. It had/has a potential impact on everything. I personally don't think they put the correct amount of focus on the pacific rim aspect of the war. as far as my school was concerned, there was pearl harbor, battle of midway (w00h00 movie day), and us dropping the bomb. thassal. i wanted more information.

Not to mention the America-centric way schools teach the European and African theaters, as well. Most students think the primary combatants there were the Germans and the US, when in reality that theater was primarily Germany vs. Russia, with U.S. doing a little mop up duty at the end, primarily to stop Russia at Germany and keep them from taking all of Europe!

It shouldn't be a school's job to teach the stuff that you are interested in; it should be their job to teach you the stuff that you would otherwise never study on your own.

um...

first off the only way you think the US and germany were it you either:

A. never took world/US history
OR
B. you dont watch enough of the history channel

secondly, russia only goes to war when hitler has the nazi army attck it. the brits and french took the brunt on the attack untill hitlers racism of slavic people took over. granted russia kicked nazi butt and the US did mop up, but the nazi machine was not crushed when we came in.

edit: speeling :D

I wish more people would pay attention to the methods used by the Nazis to take over Germany and make it into a Facist State. The reduction of human rights and liberties due to "necessity" and nationalism. The "you don't support the government so you must be a traitor" attitude.

The people of Germany never believed that it could happen there. Do you think that could ever happen here?

I concur with Nija the Pacific theatre gets short shrifted.

Yeah American schools and movies are going to glorify Americas WWII role. Just like British and Russian schools and movies focus on those respective countries WWII roles.
