black leather jackets look good on some people. however, judging by the pictures i've seen of you, i think you would look better in brown.

on this topic, i saw the most awesome 3/4 length, brown leather jacket at eddie bauer last weekend. very rich, soft leather. unfortunately, it was $250 :bawl: so no leather jacket for me..... :(

I picked up a nice 3/4 brown leather jacket from wilsons for like $13x when they had that online sale. I have some brown leather shoes and boots so it works for me. I need to get a black one so I might return a leather bomber I got for Christmas and exchange.

So my answer is do you have clothes that go with it. Black kinda requires black shoes and works with just about anything else. Brown too me is a little trickier. Unless your dressing down.

Black is good -IF you are Elvis-or THE FONZ.
stick with brown OC. Black is more of a biker thing.

My teacher always told me, "Dress brown if you wanna get down. Dress black if you've got the rack."

I seem to alternate every other time I buy a coat. This year, I opted for black and for 3/4 length.

I also like both black and brown, I guess it would also depend on what you wear with it most. My suggestion would be FIRST find a style that suits you most and is to your liking and fitting, then see what they have for colors...

** Now that I think of it I thought there was a leather jacket post on the deals page**

I actually have a leather jacket that is such a VERY dark brown that most people mistake it for being black. The lining is brown for sure, but the leather itself is dang near black. I was shopping for a pair of leather gloves to match the coat, which was next to impossible because the brown gloves were just too brown and the black gloves were, well, black. I ended up getting a black pair that very closely matches the jacket. The great thing about having a jacket this color is that I can wear a brown belt and brown boots one day, yet turn around the next day and wear black shoes and a black belt with it. It's the best of both worlds! :D

Oh, by the way, it is a Claiborne and I found it at Lord & Taylor.

Best of luck, OC! :)

Best of luck, OC! :) Something you mentioned caught my attention, "Lining" Another good thing to look for is zip out lining, this way you can also wear it in the spring and fall as well as the winter and be comfortable.

Both black and brown are fine. They're apples and oranges. They'll both look good as long as you match them well. However, as with everything in this world with color, black tends to be a little more versatile.
