I didn't read the article you had linked but from what I understood the dog jumped out of the car window and appeared that it was going to attack the officer. That's what they had said on the news anyway.

I saw this in the morning yesterday on Today. I felt really bad for the family because it's obvious that the little dog wasn't a mean dog. He jumps out of the car wagging his tail, then the next thing you see is the cop blasting him with a shotgun, and one of the family members going crazy. Those stupid ass cops should be fired.

I don't know what to feel about this case . . . no matter what, I think it's sad . . . but I don't know if the cop is to blame. I saw the clip on The Today Show . . . and as a dog lover, I could see that the dog meant NO harm whatsoever . . . but the cop, being in a stressful situation, may not realize this . . . especially if he doesn't know dogs terribly well. It's a tough call, and I tend to defer to the judgement of cops since I have NO idea how I would react in their situation when they feel threatened.

I'm impressed that the vacationing dad left 400 bucks on the roof while gassing up and drove off. I'm going to start following out of state plates on my way home from work.

(maybe it's just me, but when you pull a lame-brained stunt like that, you really can't call the cop an idiot.)

and yes, I'm a dog lover.:bawl:
