First of all, I've joined a bowling league formed by a group of students at my university. My team is composed of 5 people and we have yet to think of a clever team name... any suggestions?

Now for the real deal: I'm trying to make a compilation CD of the best "bowling" songs for the drive over to the alley to get us pumped up for the night. So far, I've got the Gipsy Kings singing the Spanish version of Hotel California from the Big Lebowski soundtrack. I'll probably throw a Rusted Root song on there, too (Martyr most likely).

I'd love to get some other suggestions - maybe some classic 50s stuff or some funky 70s songs. I'm just drawing a blank on what songs would set the mood for bowling, beer and turkeys. :)

How about "The Brew Crew?"

I used to bowl in leagues when I was a teen. There was almost without fail one team with this name in every league I bowled.

As for music, its gotta be either punkish or arena rawkish. Think Boston and Minor Threat.

I was part of a league with some family members. What's your average?

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

Nothing like bowling to punk covers of your favorite tunes (from Elton John to 80's songs to Billy Joel to the Cheers theme song). Good music

Why the Hell would anyone want to listen to punk versions of lameasses Elton John and Billy Joel when they could listen to just good punk?

Oh, and at the height of my prowess I had a 170-ish average. Highest game: 234

How about using Big Balls by ACDC?

I actually burned the CD before we left last night. The songs included:

Creedence - Bad Moon Rising
Rusted Root - Martyr
Elvis - Viva Las Vegas
Gipsy Kings - Hotel California
The Trammps - Disco Inferno
Creedence - Down on the Corner
Kenny Rogers & The First Edition - Just Dropped In
Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
O.A.R. - Crazy Game of Poker
George Thorogood - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
The Dubliners - Seven Drunken Nights

And, of course, as this compilation was inspired mostly by The Big Lebowski (one of the greatest movies ever made), I included some sound bytes from the movie between a few songs, such as Walter saying, "F*** it dude, let's go bowling," Jesus telling The Dude that "Nobody f***s with the Jesus," and Walter screaming, "Over the Line! Mark it zero!" :D

So what'd you end up naming the team?

I'm working on designing a logo for the back of our shirts now. I'll update in time.

You ignorant fool, Elton john and Billy Joel aren't lameasses. They got more talent in their little pinky fingers then you have zen in your whole booty. I like hearing different takes on classic songs such as Uptown Girl or Benny and the Jets. Bowling shouldn't be taken seriously (IMO), so listening to some funky coversongs makes sense to me. And by the way, the band is composed of members from Lagwagon and NOFX so they aren't punk nobodys.

We did a trial run with a screen-printing kit and it worked very well, so as soon as we decide on the final logo, we will print our shirts! :D
