I took advantage of the WinXP Pro deal (where you get the Baseball and the gum) a while ago and am trying to use it on a new hard drive that I got for my desktop. Everything seems fine EXCEPT for the big problem of not being able to have it recognize my modem. Without my modem, I can't register the copy and then I'll probably get nasty messages to register or something more drastic like not being able to boot up (or something like that)

Before doing this, I tried to install it to my laptop and the same thing happened. I wound up uninstalling it and going back to my Win98 OS.

I've tried uninstalling the modem and having the computer recognize it by itself and reinstalling. I've tried the Modem Troubleshooter and all it tells me to do is to go download a list of MS XP approved devices.

Can anyone suggest any solutions? Thanks in advance!

Since you are online now I assume you have another way of getting online, so take the opportunity to download the new drivers for your modem now, save them to a disk and then when windows wants the drivers click 'have disk.'

Thanks... I'll try downloading the drivers. Hope that it would be compatible with WinXP. Did anyone have any similar problems like this and did you have to buy a WinXP compatible modem to fix the problem?
