View Full Version : your favorite part of the pizza

it really depends on my mood. but more often than not, for me it's the crust. maybe it's that i like bread, or maybe it's like a reward at the end or something. given, it has to be good crust. and if the crust isn't good, i'm prolly not ordering there anymo

a good sauce is often my favorite part. it trails the crust by a margin, but still...if the sauce isnt good, i ain't going there. i've had pizzas with different sauces tho...even other than tomato-based. and so it's hard for me to say it's the sauce. sauce still trails bread in popularity with mojo

the cheese...is perhaps the most taken-for-granted item on my pizzas. once again, it has to be good or i wont order there again. but still, i just expect the cheese to be good. sometimes i'll get goat cheeses or whatever at a place that offers it...but unless i'm there, it's hard to say i'm savoring the cheese. still the crust. crust, crust, crust.

toppings are whimsical. i can feel like pepperoni one day, pepperoni and onions another, italian sausage and onions another, black olive and...well, lots of combinations. and they have to be good. now, in order for me to order (oops) from a place again, most of the toppings they have have to be good. but if i dont like their pepperoni, i may still order from them if their italian sausage is good. just the way it goes. i'm not one to order a bald pizza, but toppings trail sauce and crust fo shizzy.

anyhow, that's my take on it. feel free to discuss this amongst yourselves :P

First bite of the pointy end is the best.

Not to be a pizza snob but thank God I live/work in the NYC area. Chicago's not bad but there's nothing like a couple of NYC slices or a whole pie if you're with a friend. While I love pepperoni there should be no toppings on a great pizza. I'm convinced toppings are used to enhance the taste of bad pizza.

The best part of the pizza is the whole pizza. If you have crappy soggy crust then the pizza stinks no matter how good the crust is.

Damn, now I'm hungry. Thanks mojo.

My cousin who goes to NWU in chicago mailed me a pizza from some famous place there (forgot the name). Wow...now I know when they say Chicago deep dish is the best pizza. The crust is so fine, almost like a pie crust. It was great.

Too bad it didn't have any meat (I guess meat spoils when sent UPS).

damn straight.

i'm not into the "crust ring" at the edge of the slice...unless it's really good pizza, and quite frankly i rarely buy really good pizza.

so put a decent under crust, some spicy sauce, lots of cheese, and some veggies on top and you have yourself an excellent pizza.

but to eat just one part by itself....not really my thing

btw, i voted for the second option, only because it seemed like fun to call mojo an "ignorant slut" :heh:

Simple rule of thumb for finding good pizza: If you walk into the restraunt and can hear the cooks screaming at each other in Italian from the kitchen, you are in the right place.

The crust is the foundation for good pizza. You can have everything else be wonderful, but without a good foundation, it won't be that good.

I like the whole thing. but there has to be one stipulation. I love pizza that i can fold. It just makes it that much better. :D

I really like a good crust.

But I think it's the cheese that does it for me..:)

okay, most of you are with me on the crust... bad crust is of course bad, but good crust is up there with a good beer, homemade vanilla ice cream and overpriced chocolate!

and SAUCE?!?!?!?! pizza is best without it.

the crust...gotta be the crust...

gotta be the combination of the crust, cheese and sauce. kinda hard to screw up the toppings but it can be done. you cant have a really good pizza without all three of those things being really good.

YOUR ALL WRONG!!!!

The best part of the pizza is the parts of the crust that have the lightly browned cheese on it.

The second best is the oil that drips towars the middle and then moves forward as you fold the pizza.

oh and the pizza has to be from one of the five boroughs (NYC), otherwise it sucks

Crust all the way-nice and thin, a bit on the crunchy side, and hand tossed by the italian guy in the front window.

Definately the whole pizza.

And I love the crust. I always finish the entire piece.

I think the best part is the crust...it always seems to have a better flavor then the other parts of the pie. That said, I just happen to love the entire pie.

Note to self: Don't go to Welfare's place for pizza unless I learn to get out of a hogtie quickly.
