Rebate logistics details

I bought a coupla items under my name, but only one rebate per household. I know, I shoulda used a work or friend's address.

Here's my question -- the receipt is a web page, what happens if I edit the page to swap my name for my wife's name? (I live in an Apt bldg so it shouldnt be a problem for sanity check).

Does the rebate issuer --e.g., Symantec -- check the actual sales data with the retailer e.g., CompUSA?

You're not going to like this answer, but I'd say try it and tell us. =) I don't think they actually contact and check all the rebates with all the stores, but I could be very wrong about that. I bet they look at the reciept, make sure the date is right, make sure all the parts of the rebate are included and make sure the price is valid (not some crazy made up thing).

Let us know for sure if you try it.

Ok, I would say using your wife's name is OK but what about the mailing address? will it be the same? Sure... you say you live in an appartment building, but if you DO NOT included an appartment # with your rebate form I would see it as being the same HOUSEHOLD. If you were to put different appartment #s, that would be different.

Anyways, I say you give it a shot and let everyone know what you find out.
