Stealing content

As someone who has written quite a few reviews for various sites in the past, I'm more than annoyed at a recent event in which a writer literally stole content from another site and basically proclaimed it was his own. To make things worse, this writer stole content not from another small-scale tech site, but rather from one of the largest news & review sites on the Net.

I'm curious to see what some of you think about a situation like this -- would you still trust a reviewer's opinion if they did something like this?

(Two points I should make: 1) The site in question is by no means Got|Apex.. 2) It was definately an obvious case of plagiarism)

I probably wouldn't read anymore reviews by that person. and i'd probably think less of that site if they kept him on staff if the knew they plagerized. plagerism is just unacceptable.

Without commenting on the nature of the laws that are in place to deter plagiarism, I think a person would have to be really lacking in self-respect to plagiarize someone else's work. Especially in this case. If you consider yourself to be a reviewer, you should actually want to review your own equipment and write your own opinions. :shrug:

For anyone who wants specific information on this issue, feel free to PM or e-mail me -- I had posted the information last night, but it has since been deleted by GAM (or another moderator).

I still think it should be known what site actually stole content, but I'll respect the decisions of the moderators on this forum.

Yeah, I bet if you talk to them, it was more of a liability issue than anything else. :shrug:

There's a little misunderstanding here.... it's not "my" work that's been effectively stolen here, so I'm not expecting anything from it.

Seeing how this one person stole content from another site has me annoyed, since I'd be really angry if they had stolen content from me.

Well, I do have to apologize -- here I thought that GAM deleted my post, when in fact I'm pretty sure that it was lost in the "15 minutes of missing posts" that occured during the transfer to the new forums server.

I should've known, since usually GAM will just edit out the person's post and write something to explain why it was deleted.
