I just got a new Dell and want to partition my hard drive to dual boot between XP and Red Hat 8.0. I can't find anyone around with Partition Magic. Can anyone tell me where I can get free software to partition XP and let me dual boot? I tried downloading various shareware with frustrating results (eg, one would go through the motions of the process with me and at the very end say "actually, you need to buy the full version to REALLY partition it." another counted down from 60 every time i booted my computer telling me to register.)

:nono:

afaik you could partition half the drive with the xp utility and then just let redhat manage its own stuff. if you use grub as the bootloader it has ways to manage stuff...i'm pretty impressed with it so far (it even can lie to windows and make it think it's on the first partition ;) )

What mojo said.

If you have XP, you can use its disk partitioning option when you boot from the CD. Just carve your disk into an XP partition and an empty partition.

Linux will take care of the multiple-boot options.
