so, let's say I buy like 6/7 of these and sew them (or glue them) all together....

would that be like a tempurpedic bed without spending all the money?

According to the TV informercials (realiable source I know) Memory Foam any thicker than 2"(?) is pointless. So it shouldn't make a diffrence. Anyone find out the density yet?

No. The Density is what really matters. When you lay on the bed, you don't sink more than a few inches, unless you are really heavy.

Well, this not too scientific.
I bought the one from Boscovs B&M yesterday. Before I paid for it, I asked the girl about it. She said every time they have this sale, they sell them out real fast. There were only two left. I bought the last full size and my friend bought the last queen size.
I put it on my bed and tried it out. I went to bed around 11:00 last night and woke up around 1:30. I thought it was time to get up. I kept on waking up every hour thinking the same thing. I don't know if that proves I got rested real fast or anything.
I performed this test this morning: I was looking for something relatively heavy over a small area. So I found a full 1/2 gallon of milk in the fridge and put it on the pad. I figure that the milk weighs 4.5 pounds and the surface area is 12.25 square inches. That figures out to about 1 pound to 3 square inches or 5 ounces per square inch, which comes close to my original maximum load.
With the container of milk on the bed, it appeared to depress around 1/2". That seems to be OK, I guess.
What really baffled me is that when I first lied (laid?) down last night, I noticed that in my butt area, the pad sunk down quite a bit. I measured the distance using a tape next to the bed with and without a load. The distance was around 2 inches. Lo and behold, I discovered that my mattress had depressed 1-1/2 inches. Looks like I need a new mattress.
Oh, BTW, the pad is 2-1/4 inches thick, not 2-1/2 inches.

Ahh, hmm. Lemme see if I'm reading this correctly. So what you're saying is you have a very hot, very heavy, rather pointy butt? :P :D

how do you know that johnnymk sleeps on his back? If he sleeps facing down.. "a very hot, very heavy, rather pointy" cound be taken as a compliment.
