I am running Office XP on a Win2k box, and whenever someone sends me an attachment it does not appear in my preview pane. The only way for me to see it is by forwarding the email, which then I can right click and download it. I looked in one of the billion settings that Outlook XP has, but can't seem to find it. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how do I fix it?
Thanks in advance, y'all.

I've had a similar problem from time to time, mainly when people send me an email from a UNIX email client, such as Pine or MUTT.
I found this article: http://www.buffnet.net/tech/faq-mail10.html , which basically says that M$ basically broke something and has yet to fix it.

I have been having the same problem with XP Home. I finally found a setting to change it, but I don't remember where it was. It was a setting to "Not open attachment that may contain a virus". When I first saw that, I thought OK- just the ones with a virus it won't let me open, but no, it was all attachments! After I unchecked that, they have been OK. FOr a while I was using a different place to view my mail to get around it. I have Earthlink cable and can choose my e-mail service. I still had my address book on OE, so I went back to that after I fixed it.
OK- I found it again! Go to Outlook Express. On the top bar, single click on TOOLS. From there click on OPTIONS and then Security. Un check the option "Do not save attachments that may contain a virus." then OK at the bottom to save the setting. I am a rookie and it took me a while to find it.

Hmmm very interesting thanks fellas. I am still going to see if I can fix the problem. If I figure it out, I will post it here.
Peace.
