I hate to agree with Canta, but I have to.:hmm:
I think we need to do something about the terrorists who threaten America, but I think the worst threat is the current administration's determiation in destroying the part of our culture that is worth saving in the process.

i should know better than to step into a thread like this. but seriously...i get that there are 2 sides that won't agree on this. both sides are just doing that bit like kids that say "nuh-huh...it's you" and each side is adamant that the other side just won't listen or make any sense.
it's prolly come up before, but maybe we should have a politics forum, so that off topic can be a more relaxing place...with a news story here and there about dell dudes in jail maybe.

I'm with sbp and nickelback, but I support mojo's view that this pointless squabbling is a waste of time even more. This is especially true when Cantacuzene will just respond to any legitimate objection or defense with "Well, we all know that I know more about this than you do...so you're wrong."

Find the quote in any thread ever where I said that. Don't put quotes around words unless they are actual words. That's something everyone should learn about debating, even here.

Yo Cant, have you ever used quotes when referring to a text from Kant, Dumas, Dante, or the bible? Well...those texts weren't written in English, but we're still allowed to, and even required to, use quotation marks in those cases. I guarantee that you have quoted a text from another language with marks and everything. Therefore we're intrinsically allowed some leeway in quotation mark usage.

The difference is, quoting from a book is still taking the meaning of the words as the author intended them. When you quote me like that you're just making up words to fulfill your ideas, not mine.

Find me the paragraph or longer selection where I say anything similar to that.

I wish we could talk about the issues here, but I guess people find it easier to make up fake quotes by me than talk about real things.

Man, the level of debate HAS been nosediving, hasn't it? Somewhere Socrates is rolling and spinning, beating his worm-eaten head against a rock trying to kill the painful noise...
