FujiFilm CDs stink...

...literally. I recently purchased a 30 pack of Fujifilm CDRs and just tonight opened the little plastic spindle. Man, these things smell terrible. I'm not sure what originally smelled, but the odor has spread to cover the paper cover, the plastic spindle, all of the CDs, and the little piece of styrofoam used to fill in the area that would usually be filled by the other 20 CDs on the spindle.... I can't place the smell...but I definitely do not enjoy it. Ewww... And I have to give two CDs of German music and music videos to my professor tomorrow. Hopefully she doesn't put these CDs anywhere where the odor can infect important belongings...

Maybe the lacquer hadn't fully dried or cured before they packaged the discs. If you leave them sit uncovered for a day or two the smell should go away - hopefully.


On another note, I have a kind of fetish for the "fresh print" smell - the odor that can be found on the flaps of new software boxes, new baseball cards, new comic books, etc.

I'm also bummed that my car's "new car" smell is starting to fade. :(
