View Full Version : $109 DVD/Video CD/CD Player at Fry's Electronics

This thing plays Video CDs and you have to get it at your "friendly" local Fry's Electronics. Where you are there, check out their "budget DVD" section, which has $6.99 and $4.99 DVDs.
Be wary of anything you purchase at fry's especially the no-named cheap stuff. It usually breaks quickly, or is of incredibly cheap quality. If you want to watch some DVDs, spend the extra money to get a GOOD DVD player... It will be worth it in the long run.

I can't really vouch for the following rumor but it could be true:
Fry's is a heaven for people who USED TO WORK AT FAST FOOD PLACES! *This does not mean they are bad/stupid/whatever just keep this in mind! They apply for jobs and Fry's thinking they will be making/serving...well Fries but NO...it's fancy cheap gizmos and such...beware.
Personal Challenge: Go to Chick-fil-a, McDonalds, Burger King, etc for a month and then spend the next month at Fry's...I think you will find that the WORST employees from the fast food industry usually end up filtering down to Fry's.

The folks at my local Frys are a crew of dumbarses* They don't even know if the ram they are selling is CAS 2 or not. They don't even know what the fudck* bus/cpu dividers are....just a bunch of ignorant punks that say things like "oh we don't go that specific" when they are really saying," I am a ignoramus"

the best thing about fry's is that you can use their ads for a pricematch against other stores that are not only closer, but easier to deal with, specifically when you need to return somethint!

grandmaster: I have no idea what bus/cpu divider is and I have very slight idea what CAS 2 stands for? I dont consider myself a dumbass, after all, I can tell Fisher-Neyman Criterion from the Central Limit Theorem, can you?

grandmaster: why do you automatically assume they are "dumbarses"? Anyone who spends enough time studying computer parts wouldn't be working at Fry's; they'd be out building computers or working at a tech firm for much better pay.
It's just a sales position in an electronics store. Geez, do you expect that them to be MCSE, A+ and Novell-certified also? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't spend 4 years earning a CS/CE degree and reading in-depth articles about computer parts just so I could take a job at Fry's.

yeah, i've never been at fry's or whatever, but i think most people who work at any big electronics/computer place are, well, not too knowledgeable about computers/electronics. Simply because their in it for the sale, and try to get you to buy somewhat more expensive stuff (or cheap, nasty stuff that the can get high commission on). This is just coming from experience, and info from a friend who used to work at a circuit city.
i don't really think that those people are dumba&&e&, but their just in it for the $$, and rightfully so.
