ripping software from a laptop

hey guys,

i have a laptop w/ programs but don't have the orig cd's anymore... i want to move the programs to my new desktop but i know i can't just move the folder. is there anyway i can do it painlessly? thanks-

you can't move a program. you gotta install it to be sure everything gets into the registry properly and stuff. find a new install disk for it or something like that.

hehe, i got a relative in that same situation. thats why he doesnt want to get a new computer :P
