of course infomercials exagerate all the time, but its usually an opinion about something. like "this product is the best!" or something. but wouldnt someone saying that "this is the only computer giving you pentium 4 2.4ghz power" be completely false advertising, thus completely illegal?

are you talking about qvc or something? i've heard some silly stuff on there :P

seriously tho...the recourse for that may be that they just have to edit it if it's a commercial. there's not a whole lot that's done to advertising like that. especially on a small scale.

now if it was a larger scale it may be a different story. but i'm not quite sure how much different. prolly would depend on the offense and the extent of that faulty claim.

well it is probably a national infomercial selling a systemax computer (www.tigertv.com). pretty large scale. these type of things piss me off because the people who buy from them usually dont know a whole lot about computers and the sellers usually aware of this. they are knowingly taking advantage of people. i hate it when i see people i know buying this crap and thinking they got in on the deal of a lifetime. same stuff with hsn and qvc. i will never ever buy anything from them because when i see electronics on the show they always exagerate on the details. if its something i dont know about why would it be any different.

oh, and my mom watches hsn and qvc for jewelery all the time and the stuff looks like pure garbage on the air! i cant imagine anyone buying that trash. ive never seen so many gems with flaws and clouds you could see from a mile away. i think they were better when they only pushed cz and other fake stones. maybe i just have a higher standard than thier target audience

[added] of course before you buy something you should research it, especially when its a $1500 item, but its extremely hard to know everything about everything. or even a lot about everything. i know, ive tried. hell, just keeping all the car and electronics knowledge in my head is hard work, forget about school and job related knowledge.
