just wondering how much of an oddball i am... i enjoy my parents' company and they can come visit as often as they want. they don't annoy me. we don't go home very often to visit them, because although we enjoy visiting my parents and prm's dad, they live real close to prm's mom, who is the kind of mom that must be taken in small doses :P

My inlaws live 3 houses down the block, so we see them pretty often. Also, they like to call everytime they need anything done, and they think DH should jump up and run right over.

My parents live 30 minutes away, so we don't get to visit as often as I'd like.

I don't mind visits, especially when there is food involved that I don't have to cook! ;)

I very much enjoy my parents' company. I always go visit them, its about a 3 hour ride from NYC. My mom hates to fly, so they never came out to California, though they did drive down to New Orleans a couple times. But NYC may be a little too much city for them to take. Especially the driving.

I look forward to it! I usually get money and a free meal out of it!

Aside from liking Josh to get to see his grandparents & aunt & uncle, etc, I hate visits with my family. Parents constantly fighting, younger sister being a PITA, etc.

Now with my in-law's, I love it. :)

i absolutely hate having my parents visit me. they've been to my apt. twice since i moved out two years ago. i just feel like they're invading my space when they're at my place.

as for visiting them, it ranges from good to ok to terrible, depending on how psychotic and bitchy of a mood my mom is in. last few visits have been ok and i've actually enjoyed being there (i'm usually home every week or two for at least a little while....)

now my "in-laws" (GF's parents) are a different story. i love hanging out with them. they're fun and they make me laugh :D

I love visiting my parents! :) It's good times! They are in China as missionaries and it's kinda cool there.

Mom never visits. Dad has only been here once. An afternoon is plenty with my mom (she smokes like a freight train). I only get to see my dad 1-2 times a year, but even then three days is about as much as I can take. Mom is only an hour away, so I see her every couple of weeks. I talk to both of them a lot on the phone too.

They don't come visit me, and I visit them, when I need my mail, and I stay for about 2 hours, to be nice. =\

yes, i like it.

my mom: ultra right wing christian conservative missionary type. fun because i get to try and open her mind. don't get to see her too much because she's 3 hours away. she cooks for me too.

my dad: king of the rednecks. seriously. dresses like garth brooks. drinks mad coffee and chain smokes. we go to the fle market and yard sales and pawn shops and stuff like that. yes, my parents are divorced. i go see him every chance i get.

my [future]mother-in-law: cool chick who thinks she's still 20. goes to bars and partys and festivals and stuff with us. she's in the same town and my dad so i see her a ton.

my [future]father-in-law: super cool guy. lives in seattle so i don't get to see him too much these days. we've been friends for 15 or so years, he started me on my addiction to computers and electronics. he thinks he's 18. oh, and he turned me on to apex.

so yeah, i'd say i greatly enjoy my parents.

My parents live about 10 minutes from me, We have dinner there every Sunday and its always as big as any thanks giving day dinner. My in laws live about 25 miles from me and I don't see them that much. My wife however is over there everyday for lunch on a typical working day.

I'm just like you WL. I'm practically begging them to come visit now that they have grandkids but because they are getting older they are slow to book flights and such. I usually end up doing the reservations. I really do cherish my time with my parents especially now that I am a parent myself. It's fun being a dad.

I guess also since I'm now independent and have my own home (well I actually have 2 working on #3 right now) :hihi: I think it's fun having them come spend some time in the spare house or in one of the spare rooms.

well yes, it is obvious.

i just figured that having grown up in that kind of an environment, you'd want to get away from it rather than reveling in it :P
