"Travel Deals"?

My best friend is off to Yale for grad school. (notice how even I drop the name. Imagine being around him when we go out:bigmouth: )

But one last trip before he spends the next 5-6 years of his life studying. I saw some guy talkign about www.travelzoo.com and how this gent went to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, Round trip Air, All Drinks, Food, Transfer, and 7 nights hotel paid for, for 660. per person. He actually claims it was fabulous. I have to think, say as you, how in the hell is it possible, where's the scam? He says no timeshair bs, no anything....weird.

So I just wandered if anyone else had tried one of these seemingly cheap package deals they are offering. Thialand for 7 nights, 800.?!I just don't see how it's possible. I mean I can imagine a crappy hotel, but they even claim some hotels are 4 stars.....

My cousin and his wife (fiance at the time) went to cancun or Hawaii for like a few hundred bucks for like a week. It included hotel stay, airfare and daily food allowance I think. The catch was the hotel was new and it was a way to get ppl to come. It was a nice place but once in a while the electricity would go out for an hour. For the hotel it was good advertisement and see what improvements it needed.
