Hi I had a machine that had windows xp on it but I wanted 2000 so i reformatted and put 2000, but when it boots up it still gives me the option of booting up with xp. How do i get rid of that? THanks

hehe, didnt notice that.
find the boot.ini file on your boot drive. if you only have one drive its your boot drive. open boot.ini in notepad and remove the line with the XP under [operating systems]. you have to do it right or you might not be able to boot up next time. if you are not sure of what you are doing post the entire contents of your boot.ini file here and someone can tell you what to remove. if you have more than one drive (physical or logical) it may help to post that information as well

I say be daring, just delete EVERYTHING from the boot.ini and type WIN2K Only=Yes
KIDDING! (duh)

well at least with XP (don't remember if it is the same for 2k) you can go to system properties -> advanced -> start up and Recovery and you can choose if you want it to display your options or just choose one. So just pick 2k and then you won't have to pick anymore.
