Monthly debt? Well my car will be paid off by the time I look for a car and I have no loans. I charge gas and maybe food to my cc so is that part of my monthly dept? Otherwise I got none.

Aggressive on mine worked out to about $1.31 million. If anyone ever hears of me buying a house for that much money, shoot me. Thanks.

Yeah, its pretty easy to estimate...most places do it on a $/assesed value basis. Just take your current property taxes and use the same percentage on the new house.

*whew* i can just barely afford what i've got, in the aggressive column... counting student loans as income of course, otherwise we could afford a 55,000 dollar house, which around here has two bedrooms, 1200 square feet and no yard (which is better tahn the cardboard box that'll buy you on either coast...)

Well, hell I get a damn negative number! And a damn big one to boot. This is what I get for having over $60000 in student loans....all from law school.

In San Diego you can only get about 1/2 of a lot to live on for 55k, no cardboard box included.

In the DC metroplex, a one bedroom apartment is $200,000.
I hate this area.

Using this little calculator Mrs. Kevster and I apparently could afford a far more expensive house than the one we live in. I personally can't see paying $5500 per month just on my house payment though. If that were the case I wouldn't have any spare cash for the Got|Deals? page.

Cardboard box? Talk about optimistic. I live in NY, 55k will buy you a front door and maybe a door bell too!. You **MIGHT** be able to find a studio in bad shape in a semi-crappy area for that money right now.

no kidding right. You can buy a nicer condo out in MD for that much. The condo I'm renting out is about 130K.

Nope. I was stunned when a coworker told me. I had thought that you could get townhouses in the area for 200k.

really? wow...so how do you get down there? do you have a huge ladder? or maybe an elevator?
I guess it would be nice to have a backyard so 60 feet deep. You don't have to worry about digging a hole for a pool
:P
