Hi all. I am starting this thread to let everyone know that the deal for 3 games as described on the deals page with the gamecube and memory for $159 (Mario Sunshine, NBA Street and choice game) works at Best Buy. I just picked up the deal today after some debate with the sales people. For starters, the Sunshine pack was still marked at 189 BUT as I suspected it scanned for 159. Even after that, they tried to convince me to buy the regular cube to get the 2 free game deal as per the circular. If this happens to you, DO NOT listen to the sales people. Get the two games and the Mario Sunshine gamecube bundle with the memory card and check out. The Sunshine bundle will be 159 and the two games will come up as zero cost. You still have tonight and tomorrow to get in on this deal. ;) Thanks Spigidygak for the info on the price drop on the Sunshine bundle and the info about this deal.

And since no one wants NBA Street, take it to wal mart and exchange it w/ no receipt for store credit to use towards a game you actually want.

hmm...just went to best buy and brought all the items to the cashier. didn't work out for me. do you have to tell them to scan it in in any particular order or is there a special super mario sunshine pack that you have to buy instead of the normal game cube? anyway, i still bought the console and the 2 free games but i haven't opened anything yet. i still wanted to go back there if the deal checks out.

Why even get a Gamecube? For $50 more you can get a dvd player with a ps2 or xbox. And the games you get with the Gamecube are nothing to rave about. Metriod is fun but isnt what it used to be. Only good nintendo product is the gameboy series, and the reports so that....

Gamecube has the best software titles hands down including Rogue Leader, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Smash Brothers, Starfox, the best Resident Evil games and not to mention the new Zelda due out in March which looks and plays great. (So let's start "raving") If you want to get a DVD player, those can be had for about (the extra) 50 dollars nowadays and they WILL play CDRs with MP3s, SVCDs, etc unlike the PS Pooh and the X-box. I own an X-box and the DVD player is nothing to call home about. I also had to pay and extra $30 to "unlock" the DVD player so the box actually cost me $230. With the exception of a handful of titles including the new DDR and a good selection of RPGs, the Playstation Pooh (2) is useless. The X-box is cool, but it has too few hi-quality software titles.
If you want to experience most of your games with the "jaggies", you don't mind spending extra money for simple things such as the ability to play with four players or a wireless DVD remote and you prefer quantity of titles over quality get your self the OVERHYPED and OVERPRICED Playstation Pooh.
If you like the idea of lots of processing power, two free games that are pretty good, an internal hard drive to make custom soundtracks and you have faith that Microsoft will get good third party exclusives and that Rare will save the day, get an X-box which isn't a bad deal actually.
If you want the good titles now, you like the idea of saving that 50 bucks and you'd like an AFFORDABLE wireless controller option that doesn't suck, buy a gamecube now! Computers are fun, but they aren't what they used to be.....and that's a good thing. :P

yeah, let's buy a ps2 or xbox to play dvds. your argument is not convincing- nobody who actually cares about IQ or PQ is going to use a ps2/xbox as their primarya nd only dvd player.
the games on ps2, xbox and gamecube are mainly different - the console exclusives make up a consoles makeup - and gamecube has its fair share.

The DVD player issue wasn't the only argument I discussed and it was stated in response to someone who suggested to get a PS/Box over a Gamecube for that reason. My point was essentially to prove that the DVD option on the PS/Box is not worth mentioning. The additional 80 dollars you will have to spend on the PS/Box with remotes makes this point null given the availability of 50 dollar DVD players and the fact that progressive scan DVD players can be had for under 100 dollars. The games on these systems are actually mainly "the same" with all of the cross platform titles out there. Of the ones that are different, the difference are mainly in the quantity of high quality games. Gamecube has more than its fair share of these.

Good titles? For little kids maybe.... Lets not get into a GayCube bashing match. Gaycubes suck "." There are zero titles that i would even want to consider buying besides metriod :). Rogue Leader, Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Smash Brothers, Starfox, the best Resident Evil are the good titles you are referring to, well i am sorry to hear that. Rogue leader sucked, mario sunshine fun if you are 13, metriod prime awesome game, smash brothers PLEASE!!!! and so forth.
I understand your reasoning it is a good deal, but please dont try to defend the Gamecube with under scored same old boring games from the 90's, that have a new twist.
Oh boy resident evil is out again with new secrets. After 500 remakes?????
Look at the console sales and you can see i am not the only on with this same thoughts on this subject. 68 million strong.....

Looks like there are two gamecube fanboys and a ps2 fanboy, let me get in here to represent the xbox...
I have all three, one of them doesn't make you buy memory cards, one of them looks great on a widescreen tv, one of them has games that output in progressive scan, and one of them has Halo and soon Halo 2. I just like that one the best...but I do play them all...
They all get along fine, except for that time the ps2 and xbox put handles on themselves to make fun of the gamecube...
As for sales, if it wasn't for the gameboy advance, nintendo would be out of business thanks to gamecube sales...
Since this is the deals forum, next week wal-mart will be releasing a new Xbox bundle with the original two free games, controller s, and console along with the additional free game Rallisport Challenge. Some stores have them out already...Don't forget to pick up some 19.99 platinum hits titles while you are there...

it all depends on what you like to play. though i have metroid b/c it was free, i got gamecube b/c there are a lot more 'fun' games out there. these titles may be childish, but who cares. gamecube is a much better system if you want multiplayer party games (super monkey ball, enough said) for having a good time w/friends rather than spending countless hours on games. although there are plenty of thouse for gamecube too- metroid is awesome and i imagine zelda will probably be the greatest game ever if it holds true to the rest of the series.
the real debate is between xbox and ps2, and i think xbox wins hands down, but you never know what ps3 will pull out. and just and fyi, gamecube can output in progressive scan as well for certain games
I am a total multiplayer game freak. Ever since old school Nintendo, Turbografx 16, Sega and whatever else there was I would only play games where more than 1 person could play. Titles such as Jackal, Contra, Madden NFL, NHL games, Ikari Warriors and the list goes on and on. Even on my PC, the only games I play are multiplayer games that can be played over a LAN or online. I hate playing games alone. LOL.
I have to agree with kellybrf that the Gamecube probably does have the most fun titles when it comes to multiplayer. Sure, the Xbox and PS2 have some kickass sports games, but Super Monkey Ball is fun as hell. I hear Super Monkey Ball 2 expands the number of games, so that should be fun too. Smash Bros. Melee is the shizzit. I've been playing Gauntlet on my GC with 3 other people. It's great running around together killing stuff with friends.
Each system has its ads/disads, but I don't see myself buying an Xbox nor a PS2 in the near future.

I used to own all 3 consoles. I sold my XBOX (worthless). Sorry, I play my PC games onlin e(don't need a console for that) and it's progressive scan graphic quality pales in comparison to gamecube's! PS2 looks utterly atrocious on HDTV and is meant to be a single player console on a directview.

I actually only own a xbox. Never owned a ps2 or a gamecube. I never play the xbox besides Halo, and on xbox live with ghost recon and splinter cell. Pc games are a lot more fun for me also. I am just saying that the gamecube is a small fish to its counter parts and its brother the gameboy series, or should i say "its daddy".

McDonalds has served over 1 billion; that doesn't mean its good for you.
Crack sells well in this country too, but that doesn't mean you should rush out to get it.

$150 vs. $1500. Yes, I would hope so.
Some people don't have the money to invest in a high-powered PC. Therefore, they must make do with a console that fits their budget.

Lame rebuttal. Review your posts filled with words like "Gaycube" (homophobe? insecure about yourself?) and unsubstantiated comments like "Rogue leader sucked". Now that you have done that, ask yourself who is the twelve-year old.

I dont have a best buy around here and i was wondering if anyone knew if the free game w/purchase of gamecube deal is good anywhere else. Specifically Super wal-mart, they have the mario sunshine bundle for 149 but i dont know about the free game.

The free game is a Sega promotion and it is good everywhere. I just couldn't tell you if WalMart will honor it with the Mario Sunshine Bundle or not. On a side not, I think I saw in Media Play's ad this week they are offering another game besides the ones that Sega is offering, might be good if they carry the Sunshine Bundle.

Nope. Walmart doesn't participate in "gimmick" type promos and that is what this is concidered by corp. Your local store should be recieving two new bundles one with mario party 4 and the other with Metroid Prime for $149. They are already listed on the walmart.com site.

it's progressive scan graphic quality pales in comparison to gamecube's!
You have to be joking...NBA2k3 in 720p destroys anything on Gamecube...you may have progressive scan, but you must not appreciate higher resolutions...
I will agree with you that a ps2 is best played on a 13" Apex tv, because it looks like crap on everything, even the crappiest tv...

the free choice game (metroid, mario party 4, starfox or resident evil) is good everywhere. media play currently has a promotion where, in addition to getting one of those free games, you also get shreck xl.
i got cc to match the media play ad since i got a gamecube a few weeks ago and i exchanged it for store credit (which i used for a zelda preorder.) i pmed it and exchanged it different stores, i wouldnt suggest getting them to match then returning it immediately.
im not sure if either of these will work w/the sunshine bundle, or what the deal is w/nba street since it is not an advertised deal.

My quote was clever and yes a little immature, but what you said was just plan out of context and stupid if you ask me.
I am now done with this pointless discussion. And anything you say from this point forward only shows your true 12 year old intelligence.
Notice how no one cares....

Kcrilly,
I am glad you have come to your senses and ended your foolishness. There was nothing clever (or beneficial) about what you had to say which was why you got shot down in this deal thread that I started. I am not concerned that no one else responded to these posts because they were directed solely at you--obviously you cared enough to respond.
Here's some advice for the future: If you are going post anything in a "Got Deals" thread, say something constructive supporting the deal thread OR start your own deal thread for the benefit of others. Isn't that the point of "Got Deals" after all?
