I picked up two of the 200gb WD's for $165 each AR a while back, sold one for $275. My bottom line price for a 200gb WD?? 55$! Yeah Buddy! :)

I’ll say! Back in the days of the 286-based computers, I paid about $325 delivered for a 65 megabyte RLL format hard drive. That’s $5/megabyte. Now most of the better deals are in the range of $0.75/gigabyte. (Sometimes much less than $0.75, like the recent 40GB drives for $10 after coupon and rebate.) So dollar-for-dollar, you’re getting almost 7,000 times the storage capacity for the money! If you consider inflation, you're looking at over 10,000 times. And that’s for much faster drives.

Not every deal posted at this forum is necessarily the BEST deal on any given item. Certainly this drive does not have the lowest price per gigabyte. But at $0.89/gigabyte, it’s still a pretty good deal. People have different brand preferences. Sometimes the "best" deal is out of stock. And some people would rather deal with the rebate hassles than the hassles and mixed results of the price matching in your self-referencing post. I think the people who frequent this forum are intelligent enough to figure out what is the best deal for them. And I’m sure they like having as many options as possible.

Since Staples cancelled my 160 gig drive because they were out of stock, I may get this deal but I have two questions. 1. Is it as quiet as the Maxtor with fluid bearings and 2. My Dell 600sc can hold four drives, total limit 480 gig at 120 gig each. How would this oversize drive work on my system? Would my system partition it or would I be better off with a smaller 120 gig drive? BTW, this is a good find, thanks
