I can see all the PC’s on my network except for 4 WS. I have about 50 workstations on a Windows NT network . with DHCP server (WIN NT 4.x) as well. I can see all the Pc’s on my Network except for 4 of them. 3 Win XP Pro boxes, and 1 win 98 se box.

Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

Thx

Grape

Ps. I can locate them if I search for their IP

Make sure IPX is installed on all of them.

Yes as far as I know IPX/SPX is only used on Novell networks. What I was going to suggest was to make sure you have NETBUI installed on all of them or are using a WINS server. NETBUI is not installed by default with Windows XP, but you can install it from the cd. I belive it's somewhere under the support folder.

This was the only way I could ever get windows 9X and XP to talk to each other on my home network.

Keep in mind though that NETBUI will only work on the same subnet, so if you are using different subnets you would want to use a WINS server to take care of it all.

as of now i think the wins indormation is pulled from the DHCp server. what all does the WINS server do.
