For anyone that's bought a Maxtor HD lately, save yourself the pain of using MaxBlast 2, their partition and formatting software that probably came with the drive, and get MaxBlast 3 (http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/maxblast3.htm). Double check the compatable OSs first though...

I either use WinXP or Partition Magic do the partitioning!

I still use FAT32. I'm more concerned with speed than security. I've never had a problem with FAT32, and in my tests it's faster than NTFS.

i dont use hard drives. I have 25 asian teenagers in my basement who memorize numbers

Are they RAID10? 12+12 and one hot spare? That's a pretty good setup...

The MaxBlast 3 is far superior! If you're adding a second HD to an XP system like I just did, Maxblast 2 requires that you boot from a 3.5" floppy drive. WIth MB 3, you can boot like normal, and then run the Maxblast program from the CD. I'm not adding a 3.5" to the system I just built, so the MB 3 came in handy!!!
