Apparently these guys are all done (see www.urbanq.com ). If they still owe you money this may be a "deal" for you:
I thought you all may appreciate this info (or maybe you've already heard it before). Anyway, Urbanq had owed me about $140. I called and e-mailed to no avail. Credit card was no help either (rebate not part of initial transaction they said). Well, I attepmted to take them to court (has to be done in THEIR district in N.Y. and I am in Cali. so I thought maybe I could get a "stand-in" person to present my case if I signed all the paperwork-doesn't work like that but it DOES work pretty close to that. I called the N.Y attorney general and they said they fight these sort of things for FREE. That is their job-to protect the public from this crap. Well, I mailed them my info. including the "q-bate" crap and wrote them a nice, professional letter (About this time Apex also made some calls to Urbanq for me [thanks again Apex]). About a month later I receive my check-I have no idea if it is coincidence or related. I believe the New York Attorney General's address is: 200 Old Country Road, Suite 460, Mineola, NY 11501. Their phone number is 1(516)248-3301 and their fax is 1(516)747-6432.
If anyone needs a copy of the "q-bate" b.s. paperwork or a form letter which they may input their specific information into e-mail me at: [email protected] and I will try to get it scanned and sent to your e-mail.
Also, I'm not certain on this, maybe some with a little more know how can confirm whether this is accurate or not, but I believe the same people who operated urbanq are the same people who operate www.candyplatters.com and www.classiccloseouts.com (516-978-3707). Maybe people could still contact a pair of ears at candyplatters or classic closeouts in an effort to collect what is owed to them from urbanq. Like I said, I am not positive it is the case that they are "related". Can someone confirm?
