Hi everyone,

I need to replace my old floppy drive on my Compaq Presario. I am not too familiar with this subject. Any special kind of floppy drive I need to purchase? Any suggestions greatly appreciated! (I can't believe that it has been almost a year since my last posting)
Thank you!!

can u buy an external USB floppy drive? Does your computer even have USB ports?

Or you can go to to CompUSA or some other local computer shop and buy an internal one and just replace the one you got. It shouldn't be a problem.

You might want to make sure that your floppy drive is a standard one. I remember a bunch of compaqs used a proprietary format that you had to buy direct from compaq. The usb solution will probably be easier to deal with honestly.

yeah.....but if the floppy is a standard one...its like 10 or 20 bucks..

usb one would be more expensive...

Yah you can probably find them on newegg for less than $10

Or, as someone else suggested, USB floppy... I use my floppy drive once every blue moon..

For about $20 you can get a usb key, that holds 64 megs. many bios's support booting from this as if it were a floppy. I build many systems for friends, etc, and have stopped putting floppys in them at all.

dont waste your time with a floppy, is my advice.
