I'd like to have a Tivo-like thing on my computer.
Choosing between one of the Hauppauge PVR cards, or the ATI 8500DV.
Street costs for Hauppauge PVR 250 and the ATI 8500DV would be about the same. The Hauppague 350 ... is not yet available?
Benefits of ATI:
* "free" upgrade of 3D graphics card
* "free" IEEE 1394 port
* Output to TV
Benefits of Hauppauge:
* Separate card
The information that I can't find out what service is avaiable. ATI uses Gemstart Guide+, while Hauppauge uses TitanTV. Do any of these guides support DirecTV listings and if so, to what extent? Does it include PPV?
Comments, suggesions, other products? I'm not really considering a software solution at this point, unless there is something out there that is exceptionally good for a 1GHz system.
Also, does any of the included software capable of controlling the DirecTV receiver, via the serial port or something.
