YOu should just have waited another week to buy that, because I'm sure the price will be dropping soon. You basically gave away $50 so you could have that card 2 weeks earlier.

I didn't know R350 will be released so soon (dern it) and plus I've lived without computer at my apartment for a month (waiting for the pricedrop of GeForce4 Ti or ATI Radeon). 9700 Pro order was placed 2 weeks ago. Didn't know it'd take it so long to arrive. Usually I receive the shipment in less than 7 days. It's also inconvenient for a computer science major who has to do all the programs in school. Oh well. Who wants to buy a brand new sealed ATI 9700 Pro? :heh: I better just hang on to it.

I'll take the 9700 pro. how much? you can take a gamble with me and try to price it higher than what it's going to drop to.

Did you maybe buy it with an AMEX blue?
1. Yes--hey! I can take it back for full price
2. No--pooh! I have to eat the $$

Got to like some of these sites that give bs previews with no numbers or image quality tests. http://www.pcabusers.net/forums/images/smilies/rude.gif

As for the Radeon 9800 Pro...ATI continues to impress. They tweaked the card and upped the speeds a bit. Nice. Honestly, I did expect more speed though. Good to see its overclocking decently.

Some out there in net land are expressing disappointment with the Radeon 9800 Pro. However, it can't be expected to reinvent the wheel with a refresh. And this is not a mere speed bin ala the GF3 Ti series.

For the next few months this is the card to get. For current Radeon 9700 Pro owners this is not really an upgrade.

How about the future beyond that? Well I have heard the R400 may not come out this year. Perhaps ATI will release a 9900pro {R350 using .13 micron process} to counter the upcoming NV35. btw The NV35 will be a better product than the disappointing, shortlived NV30. Hopefully it'll have better fsaa {4X RGMS}.

Not much of a reason to buy an Nvidia card now. Most of all who would want the problematic GeForce FX? Its outperformed and the image quality {anisotropic texture filtering and antialiasing} isn't as good as ATI's.

ATI made a smart move releasing a less complicated videocard to get started with the .13 micron process.

Meanwhile, Nvidia is announcing its mainstream and performance parts, the NV31 and NV34, to replace the GeForce4 MX and GeForce4 Ti 4200. We'll have to wait a few days to see how they stack up against the ATI offerings. Likely the NV cards have the tougher road to go.

I will just dump the 9700 Pro to my brother's machine. :D It's time for him to upgrade from GeForce3 anyway. :) I'm getting a 9800! And yeah, I bought it via AX. ;) Always man.
