Already? Been there for a while (http://www.apple.com/powerbook/superdrive.html) now. Since the beginning of the year, at least.

I think he is talking about the one with more power and that is cheaper. ;)

I don't understand why pple want a DVD burner in a laptop unless it's a desktop replacement. I wouldn't burn anything when I walk around with my laptop so I just get the DVD-ROM. Also I'm cheap!

Macs have more power than you'd ever need...even the cheaper ibooks. So stuff that pc laptop back in the trash bin you found it. (Nope i'm not a mac lover, I have a PC desktop, but gotta recognize a good machine when you see it). Here's the superdrive link for those who are more cost consciencious:

link (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71302/wo/rVl5pznxaK4I3fwJsBmKBICFHQh/1.3.0.3.27.21.1.3.19.3.1.1.0?49,17)

ITs more powerful and ~200 bucks cheaper than that $1900 PC POS

Well, that link didn't go through (timed out), but I could find a PC laptop that does everything I want for Just over $1000 and it would be more powerful than the 700MHz ibook that I saw on Apples store.

The fact is, it depends on the person whether a laptop is a good deal or not. It depends on what they want to do with it.

I also found this on Apples site:

$2,799.00
Image
15.2-inch TFT Display
1280x854 resolution
1GHz PowerPC G4
1MB L3 cache
512MB SDRAM
60GB Ultra ATA/66
SuperDrive
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000
64MB DDR video memory
Gigabit Ethernet
FireWire 400

AirPort built-in
Bluetooth optional
DVI & S-Video out

and Here is what I want:
Dell Latitude D800
Pentium-M 1.6Ghz, 15.4" WUXGA
128MB DDR

64MB GeForce 4 4200 Go
40GB 5400RPM HD
Windows XP Home
10/100/1000 Ethernet (Gigabit)
24X CD-RW/DVD Combo
IntelŪ PRO/Wireless 2100 WLAN miniPCI card
cheapest software packages
3 year mail-in warranty.
Dell Tri-MetalTM chassis featuring aluminum, magnesium alloy & steel

$2,286.00 (but then I will be getting 1GB DDR from Crucial for $280, because Dell memory prices are terrible) so let's say the total is $2,566

So, I will have a better cpu (if you did not know, a 1.6 [Pentium-M] performs just as well as 2.4P4-M), twice as much memory, much better video and $200 cheaper in exchange for a DVD burner and 20GB harddrive space.

Also, why do you call a PC a "POS" if you own one yourself? If you want to say a mac is better for what you would use it for, then say that. Don't completely trash the PC.
