(I'm using Win98SE and WMP 9-series)

I reformatted my HD over 2 months ago, and have been using Media Player ever since and things have worked just fine. But now all of the sudden, when I try to play a video file in full-screen mode, the screen will go black (as if it's transitioning to full-screen mode), but then it returns back to normal size, with the video placed in the corner of the player. I can no longer play any video files in full-screen mode (unless I maximize the player, but then you can see all the volume controls, etc.).

Anyone know how to fix this? I tried uninstalling Media Player, removing any 9-series traces I could find in registry etc., but nothing works. Anyone else experience this problem?

do you have the nimo codecs installed already?

What are "nimo" codecs? I guess since I don't know what that is, I probably don't have that codec...

Do I need to download that codec to fix my problem???

The problem may not be WMP. What is your video card and what driver set are you running?

try a lower video resolution?

ATI Radeon 64 with latest Catalyst drivers

Like I said, it was working fine for months...now all of the sudden I'm having these problems...

My WMP has "started" having problems too. I can't pinpoint when they started, but I found something interesting.

If I use File->Open to open a movie, I can't go to full screen. WMP just ignores my when I click the full screen button.

If I double click the movie from windows explorer, I can then use full screen mode successfully. This is 100% re-produceable. The same movie will have the same problem/solution every time.

Have you tried these two methods seperately?
