i think I saw this in the "bargain" bin at my local KB Toys...I don't remember if I was trying to convince myself that $25 was a good price, or if it was more like $15. I'll call the store to try to confirm later.

just called my local KB, without much luck though...
the first person I spoke to didn't know what I was talking about, the second person I spoke to told me to go to funcoland...I know they had it at one point, so if you're really interested in getting this it would probably be worth checking out

The free Atari 2600 emulator and $25 TV Classic joystick are also quite nostalgic. However, the Atari Anniversary Edition is an arcade emulator, not an Atari 2600 emulator. Back when these games were popular, the difference in the graphics quality between arcade games and TV console games was enormous. I’m planning to buy the software for the kids’ Easter (a.k.a. Christmas in the spring) baskets. I’m sure the arcade version will hold their interest much longer than the 2600 version. But I might download the emulator just to show them the contrast between the two… they won’t believe it. They also have a hard time believing that there were only four television stations and TV was free.

Here’s a site that that probably has the machine that first introduced each of us, and consequently addicted us, to computers. Mine was a TI 99/4A with a whopping 16K of dedicated VRAM. It plugged into the TV, used my cassette player as a tape drive, and had an excellent version of Space Invaders on plug-in cartridge. I taught myself BASIC on this machine and it consumed 1,000,000,000,000 hours of my leisure time. It's still in my closet, maybe it's time to dust it off! There’s over 700 models in the site’s museum, including the Commodore VIC 20 & C64, Timex/Sinclair 1000, and the infamous Trash 80 (TRS-80). Check it out!
