I'm trying to create a formula rather than write a macro for this particular task.

What I need to do is increment the row number in an absolute cell reference found in the previous cell.

Let's say for example that I have a column of constants, E1:E14. Now, suppose I have a formula in the cells of another column, B, that is composed of nested IF statements and boolean expressions that evaluate to an absolute reference to one of the constants in column E.

I need to be able to include arguments for some boolean expressions that point to a different row in column E. For example, assuming a certain boolean expression in cell B3 was true, I need to take the absolute reference stored in B2 and increment it two rows downward. I don't know how to go about this!

If I could store cell references within a variable, it would be no problem, but I don't think that variable can be used in Excel outside of macros.

Someone please help me out here! It's driving me insane! :P

Holy crap... Dude, I'm not even half way through Excel for dummies! I'm the king of OS and hardware, but the only constant in my life is my wife!!

HA HA HA. I give you the crown just for knowing all the terminology!
