best replacement wiper blades?

Is this a dumb question? Are all wiper blades the same? My current ones are squeaking and streaking "like a mofo"® so I think it's time to buy some new ones. Should I buy brand name or will generic do? thanks

Alrighty, just ordered some Bosch Micro Edge Excel blades. Figured I'd just the entire blade assembly instead of just a refill since the old ones were getting discolored anyway.

It should be very easy to get the wiper blade off. Look around the adapter which connects the blade to the wiper. If fails, read the instruction. ;)

I just replaced mine with the Bosch Micro Edge. There's no need to order them as you can walk into any auto parts store and pick-up a pair and save on shipping. I thought about the PIAA blades as well, but they cost twice as much as the Bosch ones. Can't really justify spending that much on wiper blades especially in So Cal where it rarely rains. PIAA blades can be found at www.tirerack.com at about $50 a pair plus shipping. The directions on replacing wiper blades can be found in your car owner's manual and on the back of the wiper blade package.

The instructions on the back of the package are so freaking hard to understand! The pictures are like the smallest things I've ever seen. And I went through my accord manual too...still couldn't figure it out though. I'm such a car noob. :(

heh :) I've never had luck with aftermarket blades swiping correctly on my windshields. I typically just go back to the dealer and get the OEM ones.

My bosch wiper arm has like particular wind fairing for my car to prevent higher-speed liftoff in rain. It's been pretty useful up to relatively fast speeds. That's why I'm staying with it. Besides, it's what all the european cars use :P

I've noticed that sometimes it's not the blades that cause the streaking, but the glass. It must be something about the surface finish that causes streaking no matter what blades I use. Anybody agree?

I have a 94 Accord myself and the owner's manual isn't much help, I agree. It only tells you how to replace they plastic strip with an OE strip. You have to follow the instructions on the Bosch packaging. The Accord wipers are the hook type and not the button type. You have to swing your stock wipers out all the way, push the retainer and it should release, then you wiggle the whole wiper out. Install the Bosch ones in reverse order. There's only one way for it to go on so don't force it if it doesn't feel right. Make sure it locks in all the way. The swinging clip on the Bosch wiper should slide and lock into the hook on the wiper arm. Swing the blade into the wiping position and press down on the clip to make sure it's locked.

That could very well be true. Older windshields with lots of chips like mine streak easier. Some cheap replacement windshields streak easier too. You can try using those Rain-X or equivalent to wipe down your windshield. A couple of applications should help. Regardless, wiper blades should be replaced roughly once a year.

hehe. When I put on my new wipers, I spent about 15 minutes trying to pull the wiper blade off...and then I realized that you actually have to push it down towards the car. So even if I was a burly Kragen guy, it wouldn't have helped. :)

Also, rain-X wipers seem pretty good too. My bosche wipers seem too sensitive to being dirty, which causes streaks.

i use the walmart ones. and rainx wiper fluid, and i have no problems. mainly cause the rainx that is put on when i use the washer makes it so i don't need the wipers :P

I just bought one at Target for 4 bucks. I noticed when I review my car maintenace history they like to put in all caps how my wiper blades are not Honda stock wiper blades. Everything else is in initcap.

I too had a hard time figuring out how to the blade off. Eventually I figured it out. I have the hook type, where you rotate it perpendicular and then slide down.

The rain-x stuff is da bomb. I use the rain-x windshield washer fluid but I like to "rain-x" all of my windows. I love that stuff. :)
