What I'm critical of is this New Age O'Reilly factor bullcrap that has infested this nation, where having an opinion is somehow wrong.
Having an opinion is not wrong, it's what you do with that opinion that sometimes stirs people up. For instance, voicing an opinion on a news page (shouldn't news be *what's happened*, not *what I feel about it*?) seems to me to be an extension of what you are criticizing.

Some people agree with Bill O'Reilly, some don't. Some people agree with the President, some don't. If you don't like his show, don't watch. In fact, encourage people that don't like his show to not watch his show. We have that ability, to express our views through options.

I didn’t open the news page expecting to see a political view. I opened it expecting to see…news. This is why many people don’t take the internet “news” seriously. People are free to say what they want and call it news.

Maybe we should have a page devoted to political opinions? (or do we already?)

You might notice that LP put a disclaimer before his rant and said that you might want to skip it.

He gives you ample opportunity to realize that an opinion was contained between the dashed lines . . .

Sure did. But news is news. You don't hear Peter Jennings say...and this is what I feel about the French...you might not want to hear this next segment...

So are you saying that Bill O'Reilly is giving us the news or is just expressing his "opinion"? :hmm:

Neither. He plays point-counterpoint with current issues. This is neither news or opinions. You might call it op-eds, but with a dissenting point of view attached to each segment.

When did we decided that right or wrong, we need to respect our leaders?

I think we decided that a very long time ago. We are free to disagree all we want but respect should at least be shown to the office.

I couldn't agree more. I think Mr. Bush should show a helluva lot more respect for his position than he has been.

Try not to confuse an internet page made up a links to reviews, which by their very nature are opinion pieces, with ABC.

I put my views up there daily. I'm not a reporter, an anchor, or in the business of being a journalist.

Also, I'd like to point at that at no point am I taking a stance on the war - frankly, I don't need the email and I doubt anyone gives a rats butt. I'm just expressing my frustration at how we are treating each other right now.

It's LPMiller's site and he can voice whatever opinion he feels like voicing......and Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and the like are unbiased? Gimme a break!! There is no such thing as an unbiased reporter nowadays. There may have been forty or fifty years ago, but not today.

I'm not sure there ever was, really, and I'm not sure it's even possible to be in the news, have any talent for delivering it, and yet never ever express a slant in the story. It's against peoples nature, really.

It's like product reviews. Relying on just one source of info is stupid.

Time fades bad memories. You'll see. In 20 years peopel will have a good opinion of Clinton. Heck, some people today have good opinions of Nixon, Carter and Reagan. Its only a matter of time until people forget the negative, like they have for every other president.
