I bought this over a month ago. You can't believe how fast it makes a couple of cups or a full pot of coffee! However, it does take the more expensive Melitta filters, but they don't sag, which I like.

This is cool!
I learned from Alton Brown in his FoodTV show "Good Eats", coffee gives its full flavor at around 4 minutes but anything longer and it will only become more bitter.
Happy brewing!

WOW! I thought I was the only one that watched food tv. "Good Eats" has to be the best show on that channel. (I actually bought the DVDs for it!)

Not bad, but Gevalia also has good deals:

Just choose a program for different promos and coffee makers.
Some even come with ceramic or stainless steel mugs.
Just got this off Amazon for $30.99 shipped (on sale + $5 coupon):

Probably the best I've ever owned, although it's refurbished (new is $99) and they only had the $35.99 price during their Friday Sale.
Anyhoo... :bigmouth:

fast brew is not a good brew. bitterness of coffee most often comes from pre-ground coffee. Aged coffee becomes bitter. Fresh ground coffee turns out to be a function of how long you grind your beans. smaller coffee grounds results in stronger, richer coffee, but also requires a slower drip.
I still say... get in on the Gevalia deals!

Fresh coffee requires four things:
how pure your water is
how fresh your beans are (keep away from heat, light, moisture, air)
how coarse/fine you grind your beans
proportion of coffe:water

I work at Starbucks, so I know coffee. I use a french press, coarse grind, just off the boil, pure filtered water, 4 min brew, 2tbsp:6oz water. It's the best.

I have absolutely no problem with this coffee maker. I use filtered water, freshly ground beans and within 4 minutes, it's a taste from heaven.
