It probably has to be an ATA133 drive, as ATA100 doesn't support the addressing needed for drives bigger than 137GB.

They are open to midnight? Or did you reverse the AM and PM? If they are open till midnight that strikes me as weird.

guess the HD aint just a B&M deal. only today though!
its weird! on the rebates, its a little misleading. the model number is the 2MB version, but the first page of the rebate says that its the 8MB version. :hmm:

Great deal on the hard drive. Just don't buy it before midnight. :)
Don't procrastinate on the sending in the rebates. They must be postmarked no later than 4/4/03. That's a very short turnaround.

I'm gonna walk in at 5:30 then hoard it until 6pm for the hard drive. They have a 200 cd holder for 10 bucks with instant rebate plus a smaller 24 or 48 holder free.

the line was all the way around the store and a whole assload of people. you were lucky if you got to get some of those items online...

I took a ride there tonight around 9:30 and I picked up the APC backup. I was surprised they had any left, everything else was gone.

I got as far as the parking lot.. went to the one in Tanforan, in San Bruno, CA. The line stretched fairly far, at least several stores down. Since there was no parking, and it'd take a while to get in there, I gave up. Though the APC backup, and the HD would have been nice  oh well

I didn't make it @ 5:30 but I came by around 6:30 or so and everything is gone except the free PDA case and the wireless keyboard/mouse combo (1)! The lines @ the registers are so long so I didn't even buy the wireless keyboard/mouse combo!

Nuts62, yeah i was there. The San Bruno one is wacked. I was in there at 6:10 and they sold OUT of hard drives. that long line you saw, only like the first 30 people got vouchers for the hard drives because san bruno only stocks 30. So the people in back of the line who waited since 5:45 didn't even get any. The San Bruno is a total rip anyhow, they always understock sale items and use these events to push for sales for all the open items crap that they cant sell. After that i got mad but went to the san francisco superstore just to see. I didnt expect to find any in stock but when I got there at 7 AFTER the mad rush they still had about 40 left!!! The sf store manager says he stocked up 150+ in anticipation. Ironically, there was more parking downtown sf than there were in san bruno. People were off work and I think everyone steared away from union square because the day before 1000 people were arrested in an antiwar riot. Anywhoo i bought 2, using one now and still have one sealed. Damnit what am i gunna do with the extra one...Dont need it too.

err.. you may want to double check the rebate to make sure you can send both in. that is of course if you purchased it all with one receipt. i didn't pay too close attention to it..
And as for the downtown store, eh, parking? I hate paying so much for parking down there..
And as for stocking items... They tend to stock only a little of the sale items, because those are doorbusters. Just to get you in the door.

I couldn't believe that at about 1am Friday morning basically most of the stuff was available online! I got the 175Gig HD, the Tuner card, the Backup, but the HP printer was already gone, which I really wanted. Why go stand in line? Weird that they would advertise like it was an instore deal grab and then make it available on their website. The line must have been insane. Black Monday was the first and last time I ever did the stand in line thing for an hour just to watch a hardware feeding frenzy.

Kinda patronizing post and inaccurate post too. First of all everyone knows most rebates from compusa are per household/name/address anyhow. Most people there bought 2 of the same items on seperate receipts just as i did and will fill each one with a diff address.
As for parking, have you been to the downtown compusa? Its surrounded by metered parking (which is free after 6pm - when the sale started)where most spots were untaken because most people left work at that time already but are not back out to dine yet.
Not all compusa's tend to stock only a little of the sales items, which is why i pointed out the downtown store that extra stocked over 150+ hard drives in anticipation whereas the san bruno one stocked around 35. The hard drives and most of the other items were still available late in the night.
Ya gotta check your facts and read posts more carefully before you post random assumptions. :dodgy:

I bought the 175 gig drive, and to my dismay it was a 180 gig drive in the box. There was alittle slip inside and said basically, surprize you received a bigger better drive for FREE!!!!
I like it when that happens.......!

Anyone else try to fill out the MicroSoft Flight Simulator Rebate.
Smallest form I have ever used and they made it glossy so it was almost impossible for the pen to stick.
I did my best, and put the info on a piece of paper taped to it. We will see if it works.
It was real BS
