Name some of your favorite power ballads. I think I know what they are but if someone can define it that would help too.

1. Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
2. Uhmm...Sweet Child Of Mine

I like to burn a cd with just good 80's and 90's power ballads. I know you ppl must remember quite a few.

The only thing more rare than a good power ballad is a good mullet.

last kiss isn't anything close to a power ballad man :2far: :P

if you want pearl jam power ballads, you would have to go for Black or Betterman, although neither of those are really love songs.

and i haven't seen anyone mention Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like a Lady" :hihi:

and on a serious note, i think ozzy's "Momma I'm Coming Home" is pretty good in that category.

Why isn't it a power ballad? A power ballad (at least my definition, if this is wrong then please correct me) is a sweet love song sung by a rock group. Well... it's a sweet love song... sure she's dying, but if he didn't care, why would he be bummed over it? I mean, saying I love you is easy... the true test is if you're actually sad at their funeral (versus showing up just to make sure they're really dead for instance).

maybe we're working from different definitions of "power ballads"

i think a power ballad is typically considered to not just be a love song sung by a rock group, but a song that has the same chord structure/sound of "heavy" rock while taking on a "sweet" tone.

by your more general defintion (which may be perfectly accurate.... i don't know), last kiss is a power ballad.

under my more restrictive defintion, it's not

Ha ha...duh...I should just do an Amazon search on power ballads. They have several out there and a list of songs to. Although some of them *I* wouldn't consider a good power ballad. But I guess the music industry knows better than I.

Def Leppard's "Hysteria" was the best Hard Rock album ever made, in my opinion.

Hmmm... I never really thought about music structure. Fair enough. :)

Home Sweet Home- Motley Crue all the way
Just read the lyrics. It doesn't get better than this. The lyrics are so good , you could give it as a poem to your girl and she'll think you're such an awesome radical gnarly dude. That's eighties slang for cool.

Hysteria by Def Lep is should also be on the all time list.

If you can still find it... Street of Dreams by a band called Rainbow. The lyrics are awesome. Eighties rock had some damn good lyrics...so good, where are those bands now?

Just Between You and Me...by April Wine I think. The guitar solo in this one rocks and the lyrics make sense.
