Man...Zelda is telling me something...that I suck. Got thrown in Jail like 4 times straight...grrrr...I'm gonna try this another day.
But this thing is BEAUTIFUL! Not pretty like FFX, but the cartoon style is amazing and brilliant.

Can't...don't have all that set up.
Btw I think you can go to all the games sites and look at the pictures and still not be impressed. It has to be in motion before it looks really good. It's a bit deceptive like that, but that was the way anti aliasing was in the early days.

yeah, i would have to say the animation in this game is simply amazing. so fluid... screen shots don't do it justice... i knew i was playing a game, but at times it seemed like i was watching a cartoon.

BOO YEAH! I'm in Zelda playing bliss!
Very nice game with some good improvments to the controls if you compair it to Ocarina of Time. Have control of the camera to look around as your walking is nice for this game since there is always things to see.
Graphics really make this game. The expresions on Links face as you're running around or near bad guys, torches on the wall casting off light, heck the first boss monster all look very cool and brings out a more dramtic feels.
Sounds is good, the characters still don't have spoken dialoge but they do make more little noises than in previouse games.
So far I'm pleased with the game, it's going down a little easy but there seems to be a lot of side quests to worry about so hopefully the game won't be too short. Apparently there are some different things that happen when you play a second time through. Also having your GBA hooked up helps bring out other things in the game like being able to by needed items from the GBA while yout exploring a cave and having a detailed map up at all times to show where important itmes are.
All in all a great game for the first 5 hours I've put into it. We'll see how things go.

Wow...I must really suck to get thrown in jail 4 times...
if I may ask...what the bloody hell am I supposed to do? find my sword?
apmiller

Yep, sort of. You will come accrose your sword while trying to find your way up the tower but you main goal is to get in the tower to find your sister. You won't run into your sword until you get to the door that leads to her. Take out the three spotlights to make things easier.

DEFINITELY a step down from Ocarina of Time (and those before it).
1. Biggest gripe: Lost of freedom
a. Stupid boat boat steers you away from places you are "not ready for". If I am not strong enough or don't have the proper equipment/accesory for an area, let me find out for myself. I want to chop the d**m boat to bits. I can't express how much this detracts from the game.
b. Minor, but the stupid boat would not let me in the boat after I finished the dragon place. I swam around that thing mashing the A button for like a minute before I realized I need to change the direction of the wind BEFORE I got in the boat. Why make that annoying requirement when you can play the song in the boat?
c. In OOT, you could swing your sword almost anywhere you wanted. Here, they neuter link in a lot of places, which would not be bad except that a lot of those places have lots of vases. You have to pick the damn things up and, unless you aim carefully, break them one by one. Plus, I like to swing the sword around everywhere.
2. Dialogue/Plot
a. Stupid chatter. Instead of being concise and to the point, almost every NPC you meet you have to talk to at least twice to hear all they have to say. No meaningful event happens to change their dialogue, you just HAVE to talk to everyone twice. Adds nothing to the game. And if there is an event that changes something, AGAIN you usually have to talk AT LEAST twice to hear it.
b. Ever sit there and mash the buttons because an NPC can't get the lead out? Some NPC have LONG dialogue, and if you accidentally (or you want to see if their dialogue has changed) talk to them again, you just have to wait. The four stupid kids come to mind. The idiot who you asks you to save his daughter EVERYTIME he sees you, even though you say "Yes, I will save her". Many more.
c. Everytime you get the butterfly thing or special item out of a chest, you have the endure the tutorial on how to use it (can't skip). Fifteen times I for the butter fly thingy during the first two hours I played.
d. Plot is stupid. You remember the Deku tree, Zelda, or Impa telling you to do something and a little about why? The stupid boats comes, tell you have to come with him and you have to get this pearl. You won't have any idea what it is, what it does, and why you have to get it. Once you get it, he says, oh, you have to get all the others, and that's all. Lame.
3. Level design
a. You get the grappling hook, which is three times as slow, and a quarter as cool as the hookshot. Then they design the level where you have to use the hook every frickin 3 steps you take. What about strategic design? Instead, there is one part where you go up a hill, which would take about five seconds, but, oh, they break the hill into five sections for no reason so you have to use the damn grappler three times. Plus, you will likely go back that way again.
b. There's a place where there's lava and you have to blow up statue's to get across. First, if Link could jump a a millimeter more, you wouldn;t have to blow up the frickin statue. Are they trying to create drama? Next, the statues are holding pots, which is not connected to the floor. If you throw a bomb at the statue, base, nothing happens. But, oh, if you manage to get it inside the pot, the statue miraculously breaks from the wall and falls over.
c. The first boss. First, you will recognize how stupid the premise is for why the GOD (I repeat, a GOD) is angry. Two you have to use the hook to pull the rock from the ceiling and hit the creature to crack it's hard shell so you can hit it with you sword. Only you have to do it THREE times. Why is this ridiculous? You pull this 10 ton piece of rock from the ceiling, hits the enemy on the head, and he cringes, then jumps up to the ceiling, miraculously lodging the stone (10 ton) exactly in the original place, for you to pull it down on him again. Twice. It's even dumberer because of the GOD.
d. Falling into lava causes you to watch a five second clip of link burning his ass and having to restart the room, everytime. Bad news, they made it really easy to fall into lava. I hardly ever fell in lave in OOT.
I've only played for five hours, so this may be premature. Also, I finished my taxes right before playing this disappointing game.

Most of your problems with this game has to do with your patience. You seem to have none, though it's understandable since you just did your taxes.
I find this game to be one of the best games I've ever played. The world is beautiful and imaginative and the gameplay is deep. The plot could be more outlined, but if you remember the old Zelda games, you really didn't know much about the plot other than to rescue a girl and get some key stuff, much like what you have to do now.
5 hours is nothing. Come back when you've gone 10-15. This game is really well done.

One thing that really annoys me is the old man that insists on talking with you whenever you are near him. Trying to knock the kid out of the tree with the old geezer standing beside it was a bit of a hassle when he continuously chases you to ask if you have found his little Maggie.

Check out the song here: http://www.ganonstower.com/mp3/story.mp3
The Zelda theme kicks in just before the midway point of the song. :D
Also, you should be able to find a Zelda bundle at some point. EBGames.com is selling the Gamecube with Metroid, Mario Party 4, etc for $150. Not a bad deal.
Zelda is worth the purchase of a GameCube alone.

I beat the game yesterday while home sick again. (damn asthma!) Nice ending, final fight was cool, and restarting the game works well for me too for now I don't have to wear the ugly green outfit but my original clothes. I'm still so excited about the game I'm going to play it straight through a second time and see if I can locate all the hearts I didn't bother to get the first time around. Plus I never found a 4 bottle either. Very cool game indeed.

Hehehe...the thing I want most (well second most, I want my shooting laser swords back) in a zelda game are bottles. I don't know why, I just like to get bottles more than, say, bombs or arrows. I like carrying a couple of fairies, an grandma's elixir, and maybe some other potion. Bottles rock.
Btw, did you buy a bottle from that merchant who was selling a bottle, heart piece, and pendant? You get spam mail from him advertising it. My advice to all is to NOT GO TO HIM until you have 600-800 rupees. I think when you visit him the first time, a clock starts and he'll disappear after 7 days. I figure if you don't visit him, the clock doesn't start. The heart piece and bottle will cost you over 1500, coins, so get the second rupee bag upgrade before going there.
I love this game. Really really love it.

Yep, love bottles. I got that one from the merchant, waited to see him until after I got the first ruby bag upgrade. But he never went away though, or I just went through the game to fast, not sure which. I think the seven day thing is just a line. I got a bottle in the beging of the game, one from the merch for 500 bucks and one from in town but never found that last one. Sure whould have been nice to have durring the final battle for it got close! The magic armor helps big time though it uses up magic your better off saving for your arrows.

The real treasure is in the maze below the cabana.

Daymn! That place is cool... I love the scale and grandeur of it... I would go back just to dink around.
On another note, how the *&%# do you get the treasure in the Temple of the Gods wiht the two big sleeping statues? There is a lil Swirly mark on the floor and a Tri-Force mark above it, but I cannot figure it out for the life of me. I tried blowing up the columns, knocking the columns into the two sleeping dudes, but no soup...

Yup... thats the one.
In this dungeon, there are some rather large "statues" if you will, that you usually shoot with an arrow in the eye then bomb their mouth to kill them.
Well in this particular room, there are two of them, but they appear to be asleep. Tingle says there is a treasure here, and I figure you have to destroy the enemies to get the chest to appear. Except i cant destroy them, cause they arent "awake."

You get the light arrow just before you need it for the big Ganon battle. The hookshot you will get in either the Wind Temple or the Earth Temple, I don't remember which anymore...
The light arrow is rather cool but it uses more magic than the Fire/Ice arrow so make sure your ready before going after Ganon.
I went after him with some soup and two faries and just barly got through it. I had no magic and 2 hearts left when i finished the game. it was close!

You just gotta be really patient when fighting Ganon. He's got two swords so some of his attacks you can't parry fast enought to hit him. You can roll out of the way though or block with the shield. I bet you can't beat him without getting hit though... that would be amazing.
