Dish Network is offering an unadvertised promotion for current subscribers only.
If you call them and ask for the 508 special for $149.
The 508 is the DishNetwork PVR, with an 80G hdd, and allows you to record ~70hrs of tv, and pause live television.
Not all customers are elegible for this promotion, I believe you have to own your equipment. It's a great deal for those who are allready subscribed to DishNetwork, there are no committments needed to get the price, no minimum subscription etc, unlike the earlier 199 which had minimum commitments and other restrictions.

Does anyone know if the PVR 508 will be able to record and play back the data from the 6000 ( HD ) ?

It does not, there is "supposed" to be a PVR 921 due out sometime in the future (my guess is not for at least a few months) that will do this, but the 508 is SDTV only

The 921 is also expected to be on the plus side of $1000.
