My sisters floppy disk is bad her computer won't read the disk and she has a very important report thats on it. Is there any software or a data recovery place where I will be able to retrive the data. I'm in the Los Angeles area if theres a data recovery place.

Try here, but keep in mind data recovery can be VERY expensive.

Also you could try Winternals which has worked for me, but we have a corporate license and is also kinda pricey.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried it in other disk drives?

Man, that sucks. Try the floppy in a few different PC's... I've found that sometimes one drive won't read it while another one will.

After that, do what I do, keep about 3 copies of your data in different places.

Yeah, never keep important data on floppy disks. The shelf life of those things is absymal.

Hopefully she can recover her data, it sucks when you lose things into the digital ether like that. :(

i found some good programs at download.com

First
VirtualLab Client Will let you recover 1 MB for Free

Second and i like this one the best
PC Inspector File Recovery I havent found any limits with this one yes and it did a better job than the one above. I used this program to recover an important disk for my Boss she loves me now and has learned a valuable lesson about putting magnetics on Disks ... (bad idea do not try at home)
