Ok, I will start off my saying that I am just starting to learn macs. My work is paying me to do so and gonna send me to all those fun fun conferences and stuff.

But I got my a PowerBoook G4 and decided to reinstall OS X, so I started that, format the hd with Mac OS X extended, and everything goes, then about 1/4 of the way through when it is at the "preparing system settings" it just quits and gives me and error:

"The installer has quit due to an unexpected error. (exit code 0)

Please restart your computer."

so I have this nice powerbook with nothing on it and I can't install OS X.

I just thought some people here might have an idea, I checked apple's website for info but couldn't find anything all too useful.

How did you format the disk with the installer or with some other application? I would restart the installer but when you get to the first screen, go up to the top toolbar on the left hand side and pick "Run Disk Utility". From there I would verify the disk, partition if you want, and reformat the drive. Then quit the utility and go back to the installer and see if that works.

If it does not work, does the install go bad while the CD rom is spinning? Or does the CD rom stop for a while and then you get the error? Make sure the disk is clean.

Good luck.

And if that doesn't work, just throw the machine on the ground, shake your fist defiantly at the sky and scream "DOWN WITH THE INFIDELS! I WILL NEVER BE TURNED TO THE MAC SIDE!!! NEVER!!!"
