View Full Version : Conversion Tool needed
OK so i've been using Star Office 6.0, and I wrote up a document and saved it as a .doc file. I burned the file onto a disk using nero, and took it to school to turn in. Well It needed to be printed, so I try to open it up using MS Office XP and none of the options available work. All I get is jibberish. So what tool to convert it to something Office can interpret?
TIA

Try this. This apparently converts StarOffice files to plain text which you could then import to Word.

Yeah, great... Then he loses all of his formatting... :(
Hrmm maybe I should be more specific next time. Thank you for the submission though.
I'm doing this all on a windows box. I used Star Office because I, unlike most, choose not to use Windows products if I can avoid it. Hence the Star Office. The tool you provided is great, actually, and I have it d/l'd to my linux box as of right now :).
Like snotrocket said, I would like to keep my formatting (even if there isn't much ;) ) AND be able to transfer from star office to ms office, if it's at all possible.
Thanks, :D

as a MS word DOC.
I did, and when i took it to the MS Office on the burned CD all I got was jibberish. I saved it as 'CCNANetworkingJournal.doc' in staroffice, and then when I tried to open/print it from MS Office, it wouldn't work. very odd.

hummm ... try to save again it may have missed somthing saving it . then e-mail it to your self and try to open it
How odd. When I closed it out, it brought up a dialoug box saying that if i wanted to continue to save it as a Microsoft Work XP/2000 document I would lose some formatting. 0.o
