Nikon has rebates for certain cameras.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/rebates/191105.pdf
The coolpix 4500 I am interested in costs 459.95 at MPsuperstore.com. Use coupon pdac for 20 off 300. The rebate for this model is 200. The final will be around 260 including everything AR!!! 4500 has 4Mb pixels and 4X optical zoom.
And if you have msn dollars, it is a good place to spend it:)

You can go to dell home and search for coolpix 4500. The rebate form should list there.

Hi. I visited the site and when I tried to order, I had problems. Looking at the way the item is listed (with the 200 rebate listed) I believe the price they are quoting of 459.99 is after the $200 rebate. Did you order the camera? Has anyone had success with this deal (i.e. credit card charged 460 plus tax and shipping and receiving the form for the rebate)? Let me know.

I used msn dollars to check out. I had 67.80 msn dollars. So i added only 395.30 to buy it.
Try again and I think you should get the deal. Good luck:)

even cheaper for 297 at http://shop.store.yahoo.com/getdigi/nikcool45.html
It is a five-star seller. But I have never done business with them. At your own risk. Good luck.

I called in and got the deal along with a few other items. Regarding the other site you listed, we have the better deal with MPsuperstore at 260 b/c the 297 price is after rebate.
All Prices are Included After The Manufactures Rebate Offers. Prices are subject to change (from their website)

I own a bunch of Nikon gear (D100, lenses, flashes, and a couple consumer coolpix's (4500 and 5700)) and rebates only apply to USA versions purchased at an authorized reseller. I looked at the coolpix rebate form ( http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/coolpixrebate.pdf ), and it doesn't mention it specifically like the DSLR forms, however, it does require the UPC code, that will identify if it is a USA or gray market camera.
Be careful buying gray market, there is NO USA Warranty from Nikon with those. They won't even touch the camera if you pay for it. You would need to send the camera to the country of original sale (usually Nikon Japan, or Nikon Europe).
Good luck and have fun taking pics,
-Half

I think the rebate should be OK cause it is mentioned on the website. So how do u like this camera. All i concerned about is its size and weight. It looks bulky and ugly and it weighs 12 oz. What's your opinion?

Bulky? heh, you need to see my D100 with the 70-200VR or AFS 300 attached... ;)
I like the 4500 alot, the size isn't a problem for me. It's a great consumer camera, and the swivel makes it better.
As for the warranty, you need to check with the seller and get a guarantee that you can return it if it isn't a USA version. This is a HUGE scam where they say it's a USA model, but you don't get a USA warranty card. Alot of people have reported that they were told "We sent it in for you before we shipped it" (well, isn't that nice? No, it isn't it's B.S.) by certain resellers. If you buy one, as soon as you get it call Nikon USA with the serial number to verify it.

Thanks for the heads up halfmoon. The deal should be ok from what I understand. To elaborate on what cloud said, not only does MPsuperstore reference the rebate on its website, but it ALSO says the following in the item description:
This product is brand new and comes complete with all manufacturer supplied accessories. USA warranty IS included.

If you go to Nikon's website, you will see that the MSRP is $699. Where did you see $499.99? $499.99 is the MSRP after mail in rebate (if that means anything).

Yeah, I don't doubt for one minute they have the "XYZ Company warranty in the USA, but that isn't a "NIKON USA WARRANTY". That's the difference. Checkout the forums at dpreview.com, the Nikon talk forum is the consumer/coolpix forum. There is plenty of info in there of people that thought they were getting a deal.
Again, Good luck, but be cautious.

Halfmoon, thanks once again for the heads up bro. Your post has been very helpful to me. I called MPsuperstore and I spoke to a guy named Jeffery who told me that MPSuperstore is an authorized Nikon dealer and that I will receive a Nikon USA Warranty card with my item. I'll check the forum out; did you see anyone specifically slam MPsuperstore by any chance? Worst case, I'll "sic" my creditcard company on MPsuperstore if I get anything less than what I think I should be getting. ;)

Cello, not a problem.
No, i haven't seen anything about them specifically, but there are many out there that are pulling the same game. There are a few companies that look similar, then if you do a whois on the domains you find that they run 3 or 4 stores online, sometimes slamming their other company to get you to trust them. Camera sales is the ultimate in shady business.
Hopefully everything will be cool, if not have your credit card unleash hell. ;)

Didn't expect so many concerns about this deal after a nap:). Just checked the price back in my home country. It costs 700 bucks and it is even a sale price! Bunch of my friends asked me to get one for them. Seems I have to find more addresses to get the rebates.

While you're at it, get me one, heh.
You can keep the rebate, I just want the camera =P
neways, I've been really thinking about getting this camera.
My panenta have one of the 900 series of the coolpix(which I just found out when I came back from College to visit today).
It's pretty sweet, 3.3 megapixel, 4x optical zoom, 40 seconds of video(no sound), with the swivel lens like this one has.
I was really suprised at the quality of pictures that the camera got. I have a Kodak camera, and the Nikon takes far better pictures(hardly any pixelation).
I'd really love to have one of these, maybe I'll buy myself an early birthday present(dang it, just got the Credit Card paid off too....)
Neways, just wanted to let people know that I had seen a model much like the one they are selling here(only a slightly older model) and let you know that it's not that bulky at all, and it takes FANTASTIC shots.
Just my $0.02

Truthfully I'd be real worried about this store, Mpsuperstore.com.
Check out http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1849.html.
Not good at all, I feel bad for the folks that ordered from them. Beware. It's the same damn game alot of these camera stores use. The classic bait and switch. Overcharge, ship late, switch orders, it's a nightmare...
Anyone else know of a reputable site that'll sell this cheaply? And of course be a US model?

The reason why I shopped MPsuperstore was solely because it is a MSN dollars participating site so that I could spend out my msn dollars. You guys can do a little search and might be able to find a better price or safer reseller. Good luck:)

Anyone found another store?
Cheapest RELIABLE site I found was newegg.com. Still not a bad deal, but it doesn't approach the 260.00 mark.

i went into ritz cameras to play with the nikon 4500.
they will pricematch anywhere, including online. just bring in a printout of the webpage and a fone number to call and they should match the price.
also note, you can buy multi-year service contracts from them as well.

Just wanted to mention that I ordered a NIKON 995 from this company a year or two ago (when it was their current high end), and I received EXACTLY what I ordered, no hassle, with FULL US Warranty. I also choose them because of a different promo that MSN had, and they were the cheapest. Just thought you might like to hear from an actual customer...

Thanks, rjmcinnis.
Actually when I was reading those reviews, I was kind of confused. There are always positive and negative ones for each reseller, even for buy.com and tigerdirect.com.
I also found some cheaper pricese on shopping.yahoo.com. Yahoo!shopping provides some protection against frauds. So take a look and you might find better deals. Make sure you call them before place the order, cause some of them, like getdigi, they DON'T provide any manufacturer warranty!!!
