Great sound quality although Audigy 2 is best for games.

"Quite simply, the Revolution 7.1 delivers the best sound quality I've heard from a sub-$100 audio card, making it an ideal addition to any PC used primarily for audio, video, or DVD playback."

Does it make any difference in the settings when you have a POWERED subwoofer on either 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1?

Unless you use the analog outputs, which is what really makes this card special.

Yep, through your receiver or pre/pro.

I thought a computer, this sound card and speakers would be all I would need. Me Dumb

I'll just pass on this item

Computer, sound card, and computer speakers will work too. However, this card is high enough quality that people use it with their home theater as well.

I picked up one last nite. So I guess the HTPC build has begun:)

My wife was wondering why I bought it when I already had a sound card, and I told her that I got it now because it was a good deal and when I start to build my HTPC in the next few months I'll have it.

Her responce was, "So this $65 card will end up costing us $1,500."

DOH!

dang chosenfool....you've been consistantly posting i see...8986 posts, lol :P

btw, has anyone tried using the MAD winamp plugin to get true 24bit mp3 decoding? It should be interesting to compare the difference between 16bit and 24bit :)

I got this installed last nite and it worked with my computer speakers but I got nothing when I hooked it up to my receiver. Anyone got any ideas?

I used coax on the digital out and hooked it to a coax input on my onkyo. I just used the cable that had been connecting my CD player so I know the cable is good.

Man, after reading all the reviews, this sure looks like a sweet card. Does anyone know how well their driver development is?

Aristo: seems good.

Drivers are decent for a new product and should improve as time goes by
